Drain Hose Clip
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WH16X513

The Drain Hose Clip is an OEM part for GE washing machines. It secures the drain hose to the back of the washer, preventing it from becoming dislodged during operation. This ensures that water is properly directed out of the washer and into the household drain system, preventing leaks and water damage.

Causes of a bad drain hose clip can include wear and tear from regular use, damage from improper handling during installation or maintenance, or breakage due to repeated stress and movement of the washer.

Symptoms of a bad drain hose clip include:

  • Water leaking from the back of the washer
  • Drain hose detaching or becoming loose during operation
  • Difficulty securing the drain hose in place
  • Visible damage or cracking on the clip

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Note: For the entire drain hose, use part number WH41X10096.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Water level shutoff switch did didn't work allowing the washer tub to overfill   William H. • Papillion , NE • March 22, 2015

I replaced the water level switch and hose. After removing the hose, I found that it was clogged, and did not allow the water level to be sensed by the switch. A test after the replacement of the parts was successful. While filling the tub, the water shut off at the small, medium, and large levels as indicated by the switch. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Washing machine wasn't draining properly and the drain pump sounded loud and whiny   Chris S. • Boulder , CO • March 30, 2014

Replace the drain pump after watching a video demonstrating the process. The washing machine had run properly and emptied, so I was surprised how much water remained in the pipe after disconnecting the old pump. Plan on having 2-3 large towels underneath before removing it. The most difficult part (and most irritating) was replacing the intake and outtake hoses with the existing spring clamps. The drain hose into the pump took almost twenty minutes to attach properly. If the hardware store was... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Severe banging during spin cycle   Vince V. • Benson , AZ • March 03, 2019

With more difficulty and frustration than expected but it works fine now. Things learned: 1. Order only 3 replacement pins. One comes with the shocks that you can't be sure you see in the picture. 2. A circuit board in a plastic box mounted to the floor, left rear, must be removed by two screws to be able to get pliers onto the head of the pin more easily. This helps installation too. 3. Washer Motor Capacitor
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WH12X10462

Fix a washer that won't spin or agitate. This motor capacitor stores energy to start and run the motor. DIY repair takes about 10 minutes with video help.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Hotpoint vlsr1090g5ww wouldn't agitate or spin.   Chuck G. • Douglas , MI • October 03, 2022

Washer would run through the cycle, but not agitate. I had to wait for it to pump down the water level to check spin, which also was not working. The motor would buzz when it should run, but not rotate, hard to hear for spin because the pump was running. Found I could start it by hand very easily by giving the pulley a spin, so I figured start switch, but there didn't appear to be one. I found what looked like a start capacitor zip tied to the chassis midway up the front, so my second guess was... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Agitator not agitating no softener dispenser   Raymond S. • Haslet , TX • August 17, 2015

Planning to spend hundreds on a new washer and was pleased to discover the agitator coupling was the only thing wrong. Very easy repair. The only additional feature we would have liked was a softener dispenser. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The washer was filling very slow especially cold water.   Wayne S. • Oakland , MD • February 10, 2023

This is my third repair of this type. The first was a stand-alone washer and was very easy, because there was a plate on which the inlet valve assembly was mounted, and it was easily removed. Washer Suspension Rod & Spring Assembly
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WH16X543

Suspension rod and spring assembly supports the washer tub and reduces vibrations. Replace if cracked, worn, or broken to restore proper tub support.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Ge washer was shaking / vibrating excessively during rinse / spin cycle   Marcel S. • Orlando , FL • June 30, 2015

I replaced all 4 suspension rods and springs and now it spins very smooth. They weren't broken, just badly worn. It gave new life to my 15 year old GE Profile washer. They are basically springs, so they wear after a while. It was well worth the hour I spent fixing it. You need a good long reach to get to the back 2 and you have to take off the dampening straps and the control panel so you can gain access. Mode Shifter & Shaft Assembly
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WH38X10017

The Mode Shifter & Shaft Assembly is an OEM replacement part for GE washing machines. It is a mechanical component located inside the washer tub that allows for shifting between agitation, spin, and other cycles. The mode shifter and shaft assembly receive input from the control system to precisely change the operational mode at designated points in the cycle.

Causes of a bad mode shifter & shaft assembly include worn out or damaged internal gears, stripped or broken shafts, or a loss of integrity in components that restrict smooth shifting between modes.

Symptoms of a bad mode shifter & shaft assembly include:

  • Inability to start or change wash cycles
  • The washer getting stuck in one mode of operation
  • Grinding noises and vibrations during cycle shifts
  • Premature ending of cycles

This GE OEM replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Washer would not spin nor adgitate   Jeff A. • Stow , OH • June 28, 2015

Motor control board was flashing 4 times, indicating that the mode shifter had an error. I disconnected the mode shifter's wire from the controller and measured the resistance between the 2 leads with an ohmmeter. Since the reading was infinite, that meant that the mode shifter coil or in-line thermal sensor was electrically open, i.e. bad. As this fix is near a complete tear-down of the washing machine, here are a few tips I discovered. 1) the hub nut is difficult to remove and you need a... Read more
