Freezer frosting up or refrigerator losing cooling? The defrost timer controls defrost cycles to prevent frost buildup. Moderate DIY repair.
I replaced the defrost thermostat and the defrost timer. That corrected the problem. Be careful when ordering your parts. I put in my model# and they gave me a defrost timer that was incorrect. I had to return at my cost and order the correct one. Don't assume because you put in your model# that the part is correct. On each part there is a box to put in your model# to check to see if it fits your model. Don't assume that because you put your model# in before that it fits. If not sure, call them... Read more

Fix a washer that won't advance through cycles or gets stuck on wash. This mechanical timer controls cycle progression. Moderate DIY repair.
The repair guy was going to charge me upwards of $225 to replace the timer in my washer, if in fact it was the timer. I decided with Christmas just a month away that there had to be a better way. After speaking with one repairman, and then searching on the internet, I found out the problem with my Kenmore washer was probably the timer. Sears was going to charge me a lot to ship the timer and they wouldn't allow me to return it if after replacing it, it wasn't the problem. So, I got back on... Read more

The glue behind the keypad loosened and the keypad slowly began slipping down out of place over several months. Finally, because of the movement, it warped which resulted in one of the keys being stuck. That is what gave the F12 error code. The fix was easy. I removed the control panel and then peeled off the keypad. The keypad itself then has two layers (1), the flexible circuit panel, and (2) the outward facing display.
