Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Samsung refrigerator ice maker frosting up   Todd F. • Arlington , VA • December 01, 2016

I replaced the ice maker after replacing the ice try and before that the ice chute gasket. All easy fixes. However, I am still seeing some frost build-up leading me to believe that the issue is just a faulty design, which I have read other posts on. Just too much warm air gets in the ice maker because it is located in the refrigerator, plus warm air probably finds its way from the outside dispenser, up the chute into the ice maker. Oh well, nothing the occasional hair dryer won't take care of,... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Displayed e1 error code the root cause was the sensor (thermistor) that got ripped off of the roof of the freezer   Jon S. • Tuscarora , MD • February 21, 2015

Since I could not find the correct thermistor from the schematic provided, I ordered the thermistor harness for the evaporator. I cut the harness and spliced it to the sheared thermistor wires on the roof of the freezer compartment. It now works fine with a little "farmer ingenuity" help. Samsung was absolutely no help at all, but the guy that I spoke with over the phone at APP sure was. This site is now my "go to" for appliance parts! Tip for others with this model. Do not overfill the upper... Read more

Icemaker Assembly
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WPW10251076

The Icemaker Assembly is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. It includes all the necessary components to replace or install an icemaker in your refrigerator, ensuring you can consistently produce and store ice efficiently

Symptoms of a failing Icemaker Assembly include:

  • No ice production or very little ice being made
  • Ice cubes that are smaller than normal or misshapen
  • Leaking water in the freezer compartment
  • Unusual noises during the ice making cycle, such as clicking or buzzing

Causes of a bad icemaker can include issues with the water inlet valve, freezer temperature not being cold enough, or mechanical failures within the icemaker itself, such as a faulty motor or an obstructed fill tube.

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You No ice no water no nothing   Beverly H. • Corinth , TX • November 15, 2014

After doing all the tests to determine the problem it turned out that it was likely the motor in the ice maker. Rather than fix the immediate problem with a new motor and for just a few dollars more since they're prone to failure anyway, I eliminated potentially future problems by just replacing the whole ice maker. Money well spent and my part arrived the day after I ordered it. Read more

Part Number: DA97-18859A

Ice maker stopped working or won't eject cubes? This ice maker assembly restores automatic ice production. Easy DIY install—just 2 screws and 1 harness.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Icemaker stopped working   Patrick W. • Milwaukee , WI • September 10, 2016

After searching for information, the best guess was a defrost problem, so I first fully defrosted and reset the ice maker (this is the recommendation of Samsung and others on the net). This did not fix the problem. Next best guess was water fill valve, but after removing ice maker from fridge, determined it had cubes in it but would not eject. So, finally decided to order replacement ice maker. If you search the next for this model (DA97-13178A) there are instructions for removal of the ice... Read more

After doing research on broken ice bucket for an LG refrigerator on numerous sites I became totally confused on all the different #s that showed up. Contacted AppliancePartsPros. I was assured they had the part needed. Part arrived perfect match. Took more time removing part from shipping box than installing. Part I ordered is mostly plastic so all the bubble wrap made sure it wasn't broken in transient. If I need to order more parts this is the go to site. Larry Read more

Ice maker not ejecting cubes or stopped making ice? This complete assembly restores full ice production. Simple 10-minute DIY fix with just a screwdriver.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Ice maker was not ejecting cubes. Would make ice but never flip completely over to spill them into the tray.   Lorenzo Z. • Rutherfordton , NC • March 12, 2014

Replaced the entire ice making unit. It was a very simple project. The original ice maker is held in place by two screws at the front and some tabs in the back. Removing the screws allowed the unit to come free from the tabs and drop down. We simply released the wiring clip, removed the broken unit and reversed the process. The repair took about ten minutes and is something I have never done before. I am guessing we saved over $100 by ordering from AppliancePartsPros.com and doing the job... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Auger drive motor fell out of cracked ice enclosure rack   Greg W. • West Chester , OH • July 11, 2015

Ordered new enclosure. Place ice maker into 'off' position. Remove ice tray assembly by pulling forward. Unscrew left hand side screw under old enclosure. Pulled broken part forward and up slightly. Unhooked wire harness from back of freezer. You can reach from underneath pulled out part. Or from top if you tilt rear of part down. Pull assembly out. Remove solenoid and motor. 4 screws each.
