This is a 15 yr old Kenmore (GE) refrigerator with top mounted freezer...
I knew, for awhile, that I had a DEFROST problem. That was causing water to collect on the inside bottom of the fridge, under the veg./fruit bins. And then occasionally run out onto the kitchen floor if I didn't sop up the water inside. This replacement part is a high-limit thermostat, and it is intended for use in different types of appliances. This is a genuine replacement part made by General Electric. This high-limit thermostat is typically found in dryers and controls the heat inside the drying tub. This is especially important as different dryer settings require different amounts of heat. If the high limit thermostat works properly, the temperature inside the tub should reach the correct amount during each drying cycle with no issues. A new high-limit thermostat might be needed if the user notices that the dryer is unable to reach the appropriate level of heat for a certain drying cycle. This is also true if the dryer is becoming too hot when the heat is supposed to be set to low. It's bit of a chore in that on my Whirlpool Refrig you need to remove the grill on bottom front and the Utility Panel on bottom rear. Then unscrew the original filter housing and pull it out through the back of utility opening. Remove the two water hoses and put them into new filter house. Reverse the disassembly process to reinstall new filter housing. I'm old and slow so the process took me about 45 minutes. (Note: Unplug electric and turn off water inlet before starting.)

I went ahead and ordered the element, and the 2 different thermostats not knowing exactly which one might be the problem. My My Maytag opens from the front and it was actually pretty easy to get into. Also gave me the opportunity to vacuum out the inside of the dryer. I started by watching the video posted by couple of people on youtube on how to replace a microwave handle. After taking out the liner, I hit a roadblock with unscrewing the handle screw. The grip on the front side had basically melted causing it to be loose, so the screw and the plastic part would rotate together.
