Unplugged range, removed back panel. Loosened plug block from range, unhooked wires from existing element, then sliced through insulation between element ends with sharp knife. Removed screws holding element ends then removed element. Inserted new element, screwed it in place, connected wires and replaced plug block. Vacuumed up fiberglass insulation dust and replaced back panel. Replaced plug then tested. Read more

The heating element contact ears and the terminal block contacts were burnt on the existing burner. I ordered the new terminal block kit and surface heating element from Appliance Parts Pros. Delivery was exceptionally fast (I just used regular shipping). The new terminal block kit came with very long wires, so I cut them and installed new terminal ends, rather than zip-tie the long wires together. Very happy with repair. Read more

I had the choice of spending $2K on another double oven stove or $60 on two elements. (I felt more secure about replacing both bake and broil elements just in case the fire had damaged the bake element) It was an easy decision and quick replacement! We saw that the ice cream in the freezer was soft and the main refrigerator section was not cold enough. Called for repair but soonest appointment was a full week away. Watched the video here, took the leap that burner was the problem and ordered it. Also found another vid on you tube that was more specific to my Kenmore. Tip: find out how to take off the oven door. For mine it was very easy but not detailed in the APP vid. I followed instructions in APP vid but also first took off back panel of range and tested resistance of old burner to ensure that was truly the problem (as suggested by other YT vid). Turn off the water to the ice maker. Unload the freezer and remove the freezer door so you have room to work. Remove the ice maker by removing 2 screws in the front then pull the unit toward the front and unplug the wiring connection. The pipe will now be exposed. Remove the flexible piece from the front of the pipe that directs the water flow to the ice cube tray. Remove the wire tie on the front of the pipe and peel off the insulation surrounding the pipe. I ordered the replacement part; after it arrived, I turned off the power to the oven - watched the video on how to replace the part, which was fantastic as it told me to make sure when I disconnect the old element not to let the wires fall behind the oven (that would have been a big problem b/c it's a wall oven) - However, one wire still slipped back a little - so I used needle nose pliers to retrieve it.
