Both the freezer and refrigerator stopped cooling Raymond O. • Kerrville , TX • April 11, 2015
I have a Kitchen Aid side by side refrigerator/freezer which is 8 years old. One day it just stopped cooling. At first I was just going to junk it and purchase a new one. However, I took off the lower back cover and noticed the compressor was not running. I knew from experience that these compressors need a starter capacitor and relay and it is not uncommon for these parts to fail. I looked on the Internet for a video which showed how to remove the parts. I also found a video which showed how...

21 month old Frigidaire upright freezer died. John P. • Enola , PA • August 02, 2019
Noticed Rolls on the top shelf no longer frozen, though the meat around it still was. Note: This is a good test, keep something that thaws quickly and is not expensive on top shelf, to act as a barometer for your freezer health!
I first found a trip online to advance the defrost timer, as a failed timer is a common issue. I advanced the timer, but nothing happened. I emptied the freezer, then removed the thermostat and tested it. No continuity! With the Freezer continuing to thaw, I...

The Compressor Start Relay is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. This component helps to kickstart the compressor, facilitating the refrigeration cycle that cools the interior of the fridge.
Such issues can stem from electrical failures within the relay, physical damage, or wear and tear from regular use. When the relay does not function correctly, it can lead to inconsistent cooling and, in severe cases, cause the compressor to overheat and fail prematurely.
Symptoms of a failing Compressor Start Relay include:
- The refrigerator not cooling properly or not cooling at all
- A noticeable clicking sound emanating from the back of the refrigerator, indicating the relay is trying to start the compressor but failing
- The refrigerator starts and stops frequently, unable to maintain a constant temperature
This OEM Whirlpool part can also be used on Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore/Sears brand appliances.

My Frigidaire frost free commercial freezer was screeching louder than the wheels on my radio flyer red wagon when it was overloaded with 5 cent return for deposit coca cola bottles back in the 1960's Daniel G. • El Paso , TX • January 24, 2021
In short - I replaced the evaporator fan motor and the evaporator fan blade.
The Appliance Parts Pros website was extremely helpful to me. Here's how.
1. The site helped me identify that even though my Freezer says it's a Frigidaire, it's actually an Electrolux.
2. The site identified the potential screech causing parts. (I didn't take a chance, I bought all three) It was a worthwhile investment. My freezer is 20 years old so it deserved some help.
3. The site provided guidance videos (not...

Refridgerator stopped cooling Gary S. • Madison , WI • April 13, 2015
Replaced the Thermistor Assembly and also picked up Overload Protection circuit per the comments posted by the "experts" on the web site. Both parts cheap enough. I ordered parts at 3:30 in the afternoon and they showed up the next morning from half way across the country. Outstanding service. It also fixed the 9 year old refrigerator. Replacing the parts took about a half hour most of which was moving the unit from the wall and removing the panel to get at the parts.

Thanking APP ahead of time for expedient 1 day express parts & videos! I kept a LOG on this repair fix starting 6/21/20: started with cleaning out behind the Frigidaire /coils, fan blade, floor, walls, toe-plate, compressor. #1 Replaced just the Run Capacitor [from my local appl store]. When the timer was actuated the machine would only hum Ernest Q. • Geneva , FL • December 11, 2015
Not knowing for sure that the problem was the capacitor, I was reluctant to purchase and replace the part. Before the repair began, the service rep says, " the reason you would replace the capacitor is that after turning the timer on, the machine would just hum." The Thermistor Assembly is an OEM part for LG refrigerators. It serves a crucial function in monitoring and regulating the temperature within the appliance. By sensing temperature changes, the thermistor sends information to the refrigerator’s control board, ensuring the system adjusts cooling to maintain the desired temperature settings.
Symptoms of a failing thermistor assembly include:
- Inconsistent temperatures in the refrigerator or freezer
- Refrigerator running longer than usual or not cooling efficiently
- Frequent fluctuations in temperature readings
Causes of thermistor assembly failure typically involve electrical faults, damage from moisture or frost, or simple wear over time, which can impact its ability to accurately measure and report temperatures.
This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore.
