Well, I got online and found several YouTube videos on how to check what was happening. I have a multimeter and tools. I first replaced the external water filter just to make sure it wasn't that, and it needed it. That wasn't the problem. I then removed the water inlet valve which was really easy. I didn't disconnect the water lines but I did unplug the power plug. Using the ohms setting on the meter, I tested the coil of the valve solenoid. It wasn't open. I checked the voltage at the plug... Indicator light would blink three times, make a sound, but the dishwasher would not run. Checking pricing and availability of the thermostat prices were very close at $40 BUT wait now you have to but the thermo mastic at another $35-$40. I replaced the icemaker. It was fairly easy, with the most difficult part being access to the icemaker in the bottom freezer. I loosened two screws, removed one additional screw, disconnected the wiring and removed the old icemaker. I mounted the wiring harness and ice level sensor arm from the old unit onto the new icemaker and installed it with no problems. I wish I'd done this months ago instead of repeatedly attempting to repair the old icemaker. Read more

Replaced ice maker unit. 4 screws to remove cover on inside door. 2 screws for ice maker. Three connectors: ice maker on/off switch, LED light, wiring harness connector. A second person assisted by bracing the door for me, but not necessary to get the job done. I also used some cellophane and tape to cover the door opening for the 5 minutes it took to replace the unit. Two weeks ago, my dishwasher would not run. It would beep three times when you pushed the start button: the same signal it gives when the door is open. I used the troubleshooting steps I found at applianceblog.com to do a hard reset. I replaced the ice maker after replacing the ice try and before that the ice chute gasket. All easy fixes. However, I am still seeing some frost build-up leading me to believe that the issue is just a faulty design, which I have read other posts on. Just too much warm air gets in the ice maker because it is located in the refrigerator, plus warm air probably finds its way from the outside dispenser, up the chute into the ice maker.
