Run/Range/Oven Overlay Parts

I first felt along each heating element (bake and broil) hoping to find a rough or blistered place on them. But they were both smooth with no irregular places. (replacing the elements would have been the easiest and cheapest repair. Pulled the back off the range (unplugged, of course) - checked wiring. There were no loose connections or burned wiring. I disconnected the elements and checked them with a ohmmeter (VOM) and both had continuity. Discovered that both elements used the same... Read more

Unplugged stove. Removed six 1/4 inch socket head screws from back panel. Removed back panel. Removed plug on the back of the OCB. Removed OCB. Used Philips screwdriver to remove four mounting screws (and cracked pieces of the mounting holes). If you can get to this point, installing the new OCB is pretty self explanatory. Read more

Had to remove the door from the main body of the dishwasher and then take the outer door apart from the inner door. Find a good video that showed how to do this but it was not exactly like the model of GE dishwasher that I have. Once you know how to remove the panel it went fairly quick. But in removing the inner door I broke the one end of Attach Strip Rh so I order a new one plus in taking the Graphics Asm apart to get to the UI board the small tab that holds everything together broke off. Fixed it by replacing the electronic control board. Only 30 min. to fix. (See further down for effort to diagnose the problem.) Most of this "fixing time" was spent removing the control panel to access the control board that is attached to it. My freezer has the control panel located in the top center of the door. I unplugged the freezer, removed the old control board by prying it out with my hands and then pressed in the new control board with my hands. The freezer functioned normally after it was plugged into the wall outlet again. Someone with large hands or short fingernails might benefit from the use of a straight blade screwdriver while prying out the broken control board. Read more

• Touchpad does not respond

Took off the the front panel. First removed the knobs, then the four screws above each knob stem. With oven door open removed four screws under the front door oven panel. Last removed the two side screws on the oven control. Keeping hold of the front unit. Then removed the pigtail attached to the panel and the ground screw. Now the unit is detached. Turned off the power. Pulled out the stove. Removed back of upper part of stove. Removed old control board. Took photos with phone to make sure I got wires back on correctly. Only 1 wire was difficult to remove and required gentle rocking with pliers. Put the overlay on the new board. Placed all the clips and wires back on the new board. Turned on power to test. I ordered the three parts listed and now my oven is beautiful, functional and like new again. I first had to figure out that the original parts are no longer available and had to perform an oven upgrade. Removed torx screws attaching stainless liner to outer stainless door. Lift off inner door and carefully separate the electronic components from where they snap into the control panel. Relocate electronic components to the new control panel. Reattach the inner liner with the torx screws. It is helpful to have an extra set of hands to hold the control panel while making the electronics swap to avoid pulling on the wiring harness.
