This is a bushing made from black plastic with a cleft down the middle to provide enough flex for easy insertion. It has a flanged design, which means it won’t easily pop out after installation, even under stress from constant vibration. The bushing’s primary purpose is to protect wires and cables from damage as they pass through a channel. As such, the material is fairly durable and does not need to be replaced under ordinary circumstances.
That said, there are some situations in which it can become damaged. For one thing, it’s easy to damage while repairing the wires or cables that run through the bushing. If the bushing does need to be replaced, it requires disconnecting any cables or wires that run through the bushing. Pop out the old bushing with a rubber mallet, install the new bushing the same way, reconnect the wires, and the repair is complete.
This is an OEM part sourced directly from MTD, and it is sold individually. It was initially used on snowblowers but has also been used on lawnmowers and lawn tractors.

When this occurs, the flange bearing will need to be replaced.Place the equipment on a flat surface and disconnect the spark plug wire. The location of the flange bearing will vary based on the equipment being used, so condult the user manual. Disassemble the tool as needed to get access to the flange bearing. It can be removed using a set of pliers. Clean off the components where the bearing was located before installing the new flange bearing.
