Purchased a new starter and compressor run capacitor. Unplugged appliance from wall outlet. removed clip that holds these item in place. unplugged starter from compressor and from electrical wiring. plugged capacitor into starter, then plugged the electrical connection into assembly. Had a friend who is an appliance repair tech. Replace the evaporator, the heater coil, and the filter/drier. Parts were soldered together and the compressor was put under vacuum. Then, charged with 5 oz. of refrigerant. The freezer works great now! Read more

Loosened the top half screws, pulled the old seal out, put new seal in, snugged top screws, repeated process for the bottom. Went well, no problems. Read more

Looked for obvious signs of mal-function, burned wires, etc. I found that the compressor controller(attached to the compressor) had an obvious burned-out spot. Took a chance that was the problem (it was); ordered all new OEM parts, including a new timer and run capacitor (a part that kicks in every time the compressor starts). I had a friend and a repair guy tell me it was the start relay that needed to be replaced, which was an easy fix. My friend said just to unplug the start relay, replace it with the new one, and it should be good. I've never tried to repair a fridge, and that was the easiest repair ever. It was easy to find the part on appliance parts pros. Once I found it I studied the diagram and determined that there were 3 screws in the drum that needed to be removed. I disconnected power and then removed 3 interior screws. Once I did that I removed the back cover and removed the single screw on the bottom side of the air duct that held it in place connected to the heat tube. I then reversed disassembly. I determined that it was a problem that occurred during the defrost cycle by resetting the GFCI outlet and forwarding the defrost timer until the defroster came on.
