Symptoms of a bad High Limit Thermostat include:
- The dryer not heating up at all, indicating that the thermostat may have tripped or failed permanently.
- Dryer repeatedly shutting off during cycles, which can be a sign that the thermostat is tripping too frequently due to overheating issues.
- Excessive heat in the dryer, suggesting that the thermostat is not functioning properly and failing to regulate the temperature.
Causes of a bad high limit thermostat can include restricted airflow due to a clogged lint filter or venting system, malfunctioning heating elements that generate excessive heat, or simply the thermostat wearing out over time.

The dryer did not heat! Linda R. • La Jolla , CA • November 30, 2014
My appliance repair guy checked out the problem, but the stack washer dryer required the contractor to dismantle the cabinet to allow the repair to occur. So i wanted the parts available for the repair, so we would not have to have the dryer pulled apart in a small space for an extended time i ordered the parts on Friday afternoon and they arrived at my home before noon on Saturday! The contractor and the repairman were able to coordinate the repair on Tuesday morning, and though the...

Recommendations have fun and a bucket to prevent losing parts. First watch the videos, practice disassemble and reassemble the dryer drum. Make certain you have a good screw driver and spatula from kitchen (could not find my putty knife). Secondly, clean and inspect everything, make sure the motor bearing and belt pulleys are in good condition with little or no play. Third after you have confidently disassembled, vacuum cleaned, inspected all the worn parts, grease the motor and pulley,...

Our dryer didn't heat Larry L. • Poway , CA • November 10, 2014
Being a complete DIY I hate to call some unknown person into my home knowing that just to get them there will cost me more than I will spend for parts that I don't need. After all, they are trying to make a living and by selling me parts that I don't need will increase their profits.
I've dealt with APP before and was impressed by their site because I could find both mechanical and electrical drawings for almost everything I have.
I looked up my dryer, decided what was probably the problem,...

This dryer thermostat monitors internal air temperature and opens/closes the heater circuit to keep drying safe and consistent. Replacing a weak or failed thermostat restores proper heat and helps prevent overheating or nuisance shutdowns. What it does:
- Senses exhaust/heater housing temperature and switches the heating circuit based on temperature
- Helps maintain target drying temperatures for consistent performance
- Provides over-temperature protection by opening the circuit if heat rises too high
- Common symptoms include no heat or weak heat, long dry times, heat cutting out mid-cycle, or the dryer running hotter than normal
What's included:
Install notes:
- Disconnect power before servicing; heating components can be live and hot
- Access location varies by model; typically mounted on the heater or blower housing behind a rear or front panel
- Transfer wires from the old thermostat to the new one one-at-a-time and secure firmly; ensure the mounting surface is clean and flat
- After replacement, check and clear the venting/duct for proper airflow to prevent repeat failures
