Christine C St. Louis , MO June 04, 2016 Appliance: Maytag 30" Gas Slide-In JGS8850BDS17 Jenn air slide in gas range touchpad quit After doing some research online, I saw that to have an appliance repair person come out to fix the touchpad, would cost us well over $500. Some people said they would charge $500 for the part alone. I did a search for the part using our model number and read the reviews on this site and thought we'd give it a try. It was a very easy repair--anyone could do it. You basically remove four side screws and then the screws behind the knobs. Once you pull the front away, there are 4 screws holding the control box on. Unscrew those and unplug the ribbon cable. Then switch fronts, plug the ribbon cable back in and screw everything back. I recommend having 2 people do this--one to hold and one to screw (unscrew). Use a magnetic screw bit because the screws are small and hard to handle. When re-assembling, screw the 4 side screws in first which helps the knob screws line up. Also replace the door gasket. The reason the touch pad goes out is because heat escapes from the door if the door gasket is flattened. A child could replace the door gasket--that easy. That's it! I also thank Youtube for showing me it can be done! Read More... 17 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers

Dennis H Robbinsdale , MN December 03, 2015 Appliance: Maytag 30" Gas Slide-In JGS8850BDS17 Key pad would not work at all The control board would register EE-214 which one of the diagnostic remarks said was a control panel touch pad issue. I was not sure and ordered both the control panel and the electronic control board. I did not install the control board as the touch pad fixed the problem. In my case the touch pad stopped working except for the bake setting. After a month it stopped working all together and would come up with the clock and code when I unplugged and plugged the stove in. The convection fan would run for 2 seconds turn off and the clock and code would come on to the digital screen from the control board. Been working great for the past few days after putting new control assembly in--touch pad. A W S Atlanta , GA August 07, 2016 The control panel on the front of the stove stopped working I ordered a new control panel. Had a friend replace the old w the new. It was very simple to do, and a review by Christine helped greatly. She realized that the door gasket also needed to be replaced as it was allowing heat from the oven and that had stressed the control panel. Great info! Thanks Christine!
