Danny A Ontario , CA November 03, 2015 Appliance: Model KITCHENAID SUPERBA KSRS25ILSS13 It stopped cooling refrig and freezer After advice from a technician I checked for a compressor relay, however I did not know what it looked like and where it was located. I did a search on the internet and found your competitors website. They claimed to have the part and shared pictures. After taking apart every electronic component in my refrig I still could not find the relay shown on their site. I was afraid of ordering the wrong part. So I did another search and then found your website. I was amazed you would take the time to create a video. The video had shown me, your competitor had the wrong parts. They caused me to waste a great deal of time. Your video showed it was a 4 minute fix. The refrig originally cost me $2000.00 and I almost gave it away, the actual repair cost for the parts was $44, but I bought other pairs - the Capacitor and Thermostat. At a total cost of $122 it was a bargain. Since I ready bought a new Refrig, I am keeping this one in my garage. My wife is very happy. Thank you for all you do for us novice repairman. My trade is Telecommunications but I feel qualified to work on another refrig. Jacqueline B Brentwood , CA July 10, 2017 Not cooling in refrigerator or freezer of side by side refrigerator We Googled the symptoms, which brought us to your website. Based on the recommendations, we purchased a compressor starting device kit, defrost thermostat (just to be safe), and a condenser brush. We cleaned all the coils, replaced the compressor starting device and defrost thermostat using your instructions and video. IT WORKED!! We are on day four and the refrigerator and freezer are working! Thank you so much!! We thought we were going to have to purchase a new refrigerator and that would be $1500-$2500 to match our current kitchen appliances. Lorie B Kennett Square , PA January 10, 2016 Appliance: Model 106.53552200 Neither the freezer nor the refrigerator were cooling properly The appliance was a Kenmore refrigerator. After finding out that a Sears repairman wouldn't be able to come for several days and it would cost over $100 for them to just get through my door, I decided to see if I could fix it myself. After doing some online research, it sounded like a bad compressor starter. Ordering the part I needed from AppliancePartsPros.com was cheaper than Sears and it would get here quicker without a ridiculous shipping fee. I ordered the part and watched the Appliancepartspro video several times before installation. Although the video and directions seemed to indicate that the combined part should be used as opposed to the separate pieces because this was an original compressor and the original part was combined, it was pretty clear that the separate pieces were the only way the wires could be connected - maybe because this was a Kenmore rather than a Whirlpool frig (the part was a substitute Whirlpool part). I installed the starter kit according to the video, very easy - removed the old one, installed the two pieces of the new starter, and plugged in the wires. However, the cover would not fit property, so I left it off. I turned on the refrigerator, and after a few hours of cooling down the frig and freezer compartments, I have a cold, working refrigerator again. By the way I am a female. Women should not be afraid to try to fix things by themselves. Read More... 1 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Pliers, Screwdrivers
Michael E Daytona Beach , FL November 14, 2015 Appliance: Model KITCHEN AID SIDE BY SIDE Starter relay and cap Went to you tube and watched videos on trouble shooting the compressor. Tested resistance on starter and main winding and saw they were electrically sound. More than 9 out of 10 times its either the cap or relay. The relay was bad so I ordered a starter kit and cap for cheap insurance ( I lost $ hundreds when the fridge failed. A old cap on the new repair just seemed prudent.) Started up and measured temp with remote probe over time to see when the fridge and freezer were kicking on and off. All is well, time to restock.
