Estate Clothes Mover (Upper Agitator)
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WP3348752

This upper agitator—also called the clothes mover—is the top section of the agitator in select top-load washers. It works with the agitator cam and dogs to roll laundry over during wash strokes. Replace if cracked, stripped, or no longer engaging. What it does:

  • Provides the upper vanes that lift and roll clothes for proper turnover during agitation
  • Transfers one-way motion from the cam/dogs to the top section of the agitator
  • Helps address symptoms like the top section free-spinning, poor turnover/cleaning, rattling/loose feel, or visible cracks/broken fins
What's included:
  • 1 upper agitator (clothes mover)
Install notes:
  • Unplug the washer and turn off water before servicing
  • Remove the dispenser and cap to access the center fastener; lift out the agitator assembly
  • Separate the old upper section from the cam, seat the new clothes mover fully on the splines, and reassemble
  • Hand-check for one-way engagement of the top section before running a test cycle

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Top agitator would not spin   Daniel C. • Woodbine , MD • January 14, 2017

I have a 25 year old Kenmore washer that works well and didn't want to get a new washer as they don't make them like they used to. Upon removing the top cap of the agitator and doing an inspection, the agitator dogs were completely broken into pieces. Due to age we decided to replace the lower and upper agitator along with the agitator auger dogs repair kit. All new parts and works fine. On inspection of old parts, we probably could have gotten away with just a $5 repair for the plastic... Read more

  • Requires removing the cabinet and gearcase; drain and reseal the gearcase per service procedures
  • Keep gears, spacers, and clips in order; reassemble in the original orientation

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Agitator was not turning   Edward M. • Glen Allen , VA • March 10, 2019

I had to replace the drive shaft and the lower agitator. The motor coupling was also worn out. The repair was challenging because I had to rebuild the gear box. This step was really messy and I had to wait for the liquid gasket to set prior to completing the repair. Cleaning and prep of all of the parts tripled the repair time. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Fifteen year old whirlpool washing machine agitator was noisily malfunctioning   Beth K. • Ventura , CA • September 26, 2014

I figured it had to do with the gear mechanism. Internet search with Whirlpool discovered the parts were not available. AppliancePartsPros had parts and the complete agitator. I watched the video (excellent instructor). With a screwdriver, socket wrench and a little grease, I accomplished the replacement in about 10 minutes. Washing machine works like new. Total cost about $80. Ordered Sunday, repaired on Tuesday. Read more
