Dryer won't heat or overheats? A failed cycling thermostat can't regulate temperature. This direct-fit part takes 15–30 minutes to replace.
Replaced upper and lower felts. Painted rubbing surface on inside of drum with refrigerator enamel. Took out drum and lubed rear bearing. Replaced 2 of the 3 thermostats, and the belt just on principle. Spent a lot of time with shop-vac removing lint from drier and exhaust ducts. Runs great and is no longer cooking or staining clothes. Timer won't advance or dryer runs continuously? This timer control restores proper cycle progression in auto and timed modes. DIY-friendly repair.
I ordered the timer and knob on Monday, they arrived around noon on Tuesday, and within an hour I had them installed and back in business. I was amazed how quickly the parts got here. The online video showing the procedure step by step was very helpful. Instead of disconnecting all the wires and having to keep up with which one went where, I moved each wire one by one and made sure I didn't get any of them in the wrong place. The only thing that slowed me down a bit was seeing which side of the... Read more

This is an easy fix, but Appliance Parts Pros make finding the correct part easy. I looked at many sites to get a new knob, as I was tired of using pliers to start the dryer. The images on the grid are worth their weight in gold! Read more

Gas smell during or after cycles? Dryer won't heat? Replace the gas valve assembly to restore proper gas flow and safe operation. Advanced repair.
Frigidaire Gallery gas dryer from maybe 15 years ago. Based on the fact the the smell was only in the dryer, I concluded it must be the gas valve failing to completely seal when closed. After looking at the insides again, I suppose it is possible that it was a connection near the burner, but that stuff had remained untouched for 10 years so I still think I made a good assumption. I got a new ignitor as well since I was in there, and compared to the valve, it was cheap! I thought I could get in... Read more
If your dryer won't shut off or cycles won't advance, the timer may have failed. This control manages drying cycles and run time. DIY repair in 20 minutes.
With a Phillips screw driver, on the back of the control panel there was about 6 or 7 screws to undo, to take the cover off and 2 screws holding the timer in place. Just undone those, took out old timer, made sure I took wires from old timer one at a time, and, put on new timer. Put everything back, although I had to find a couple of very small washers to make the timer fit tight, in the 2 holes it came out of. Luckily I had those or would of been a very loose timer. Very easy to do. Read more
Washer that fits between the support roller and shaft in your dryer. Replace if worn, cracked, or missing to maintain proper drum alignment and support.
This moisture sensor monitors dampness inside the dryer drum and signals the control when fabrics are dry, helping automatic cycles end on time and avoid overdrying. Replacing a failed sensor can restore consistent Auto Dry performance and cycle times. What it does:
Fixed it in 5minutes. One end has a Phillips head screw and the other has a tab with to metal leads for wires. The end with the tab broke. I removed the screw for the other end abd the sensor bar came off. To put the new piece on, I connected the wires to the leads, slid the tab end into place on the drum and screwed in the other end. Done! Easy! Read more
Fix a dryer that won't heat with this heating element coil. Common DIY repair takes about 30 minutes. Requires disassembly to access heater chamber.
First, let me tell you that this is the fifth appliance I've fixed with parts and help from AppliancePartsPros.com -- At this rate I'll never get to upgrade to nice new appliances. :-( When my wife said the dryer wasn't heating up, I looked online for common causes before I even headed to the basement. A lot of people talk about the fuses going bad, so I figured that's what it was. Next, I watched the videos on how to get to the internals of the dryer. (I hate it when I try to figure it out... Seals the dryer door to contain heat and prevent air leaks. Replace if torn, cracked, or causing poor drying performance. Confirm fit with your model.
The fix involved pulling the top of the dryer off, removing the front and replacing the gasket. You will need to scrape the old gasket off carefully with a dull putty knife. Make sure you order high temp adhesive or find a similar adhesive for the new gasket. Read more
