21 month old Frigidaire upright freezer died. John P. • Enola , PA • August 02, 2019
Noticed Rolls on the top shelf no longer frozen, though the meat around it still was. Note: This is a good test, keep something that thaws quickly and is not expensive on top shelf, to act as a barometer for your freezer health!
I first found a trip online to advance the defrost timer, as a failed timer is a common issue. I advanced the timer, but nothing happened. I emptied the freezer, then removed the thermostat and tested it. No continuity! With the Freezer continuing to thaw, I...

Part Number: 241537103
The Cold Control is an OEM part for Frigidaire refrigerators. It regulates the temperature inside the fridge and freezer compartments by controlling the compressor, evaporator fan, and cooling vents. Proper cooling depends on the cold control operating reliably.
Symptoms of a bad cold control include:
- Fluctuating temperatures that don't stay consistent
- The refrigerator or freezer running excessively hot or cold
- The compressor not turning on at all
Causes of failure can be worn over many years of use or damage to electronic components. Without an accurately functioning control, cooling performance diminishes significantly.
This OEM Frigidaire part can also be used on Electrolux, Frigidaire, Gibson, Kelvinator, Westinghouse, and Sears/Kenmore.

This was for a friend of mine his refrigerator stopped cooling Gary G. • Ofallon , MO • July 12, 2015
This was a 2000 model so rather than just replace the defrost timer which was visibly burnt on the terminals, we just did everything. The cold control, defrost timer, thermostat, defrost heater and the compressor capacitor were all replaced. I had the same issue on my older unit and tore it apart replacing one item at a time over a three month period so on an older one i suggest do it all while it is apart.

- Frost buildup in the freezer compartment
- The refrigerator being too warm or too cold
This OEM replacement is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and some Kenmore models.

Part Number: 240383703
This genuine OEM part is a temperature control thermostat for refrigerators. The temperature control thermostat is the part that regulates and adjusts the temperature settings of the refrigerator. If the refrigerator is no longer maintaining the desired temperature settings, not cooling, or otherwise not operating properly, it will need to be replaced. To replace this part, make sure the refrigerator is unplugged. After unplugging, proceed to open the refrigerator door and remove all the interior shelving. Freezer was shuuting down or not coming back on after defrost cycle Kent S. • Springfield , OH • October 24, 2020
I replaced defrost timer (which I am glad I did because of wear on the points) but that did not cure the problem. So after checking other components, I found that the temperature control was the culprit. No problem, I will simply order part # 2162521100. Well Frigidaire decided to obsolete that part and "Has not provided an approved substitute". So, I have to scrap this freezer and pay $800 to $900 for a new one? Not! So I kept looking at subsequent freezer temperature controls and found part #...
