I had the choice of spending $2K on another double oven stove or $60 on two elements. (I felt more secure about replacing both bake and broil elements just in case the fire had damaged the bake element) It was an easy decision and quick replacement! Full disassembly of removable tray into top plate (stainless) and lower pan taking care not to loose fasteners. Removal of terminal blocks using lubrication on rusted screws and, if necessary, drill out technique. Unclip wires from edges of the tray on both sides without losing the clips for future re-use. Dropped light panel by removing two screws with socket set. Unplugged two terminals and unclipped the light socket from the base. Then just clipped the new socket onto the base, plugged the connectors onto the terminals and remounted the base. Total job was less than 15 minutes. Read more

After many years of excellent service the burner I use most often on the top of my JenAir range rusted through. After trying to remove the burner, which was firmly rusted into place, I decided to replace the cooktop pan, both burners and igniters. It was an easy repair to swap out the new parts for the old, and the only tool necessary was a #2 phillips screw driver. Checked the three door switches; used ohm meter to see if there was resistance or if a switch was bad. 2 out of 3 switches showed resistance with the ohm meter. The last one tested (of course the last one) NO (normally open) did not show resistance; I.e. the ohm meter reading did not change when the switch was depressed. First, I just unscrewed all nuts that are holding the frame and all surface elements. Once all parts, surface elements, control switches, are loose from the original glass, I just moved all parts to the new glass. Due to the weight of the glass, all actions have to be done carefully as I broken one corner of the glass couple of years ago when I replaced one of the control switch. Read more

I attempted to diagnose the four thermostats/thermal switches in the microwave....two right behind the control panel, one on top of the cooking cabin, and one under a metal shroud above the magnetron. While checking continuity with a voltmeter, i questioned one of them behind the control panel and the one above the magnetron. Based on internet search and data found on APPLIANCE PARTS PRO, I deduced that the "infinite control " module was most likely bad. Replaced it and all is good. Toughest part was remembering how to disengage cooktop from down draft blower and then pulling the cook top up in within it's opening. Once pulled up, I put short 2x4's across the opening corners to support the cooktop safely while I worked on it. Next issue was figuring out exactly which screws held the glass top in place. As... 1st. replaced thermostat probe inside wall oven - no change. Then removed range heating element and measured it with ohm meter for continuity and found it to be OPEN. Ordered replacement range heating element; measured it before install and found it to be a few ohms - installed in less than 5 minutes and tested. ALL WORKS GREAT. Both items purchased with shipping were just over $100. (I chose to keep the thermostat probe instead of returning it being the oven is just over 10 years old). Read more

If one control starts to fail the rest are sure to follow soon - so I replaced all four on our JennAir S160. Looked up the parts on line. Due to my background as an aviation electrician in the Navy and then working as an electrical systems designer for a defense contractor the toughest part was the clean up. Oh Well. Read more

These drip pans fit! I had bought some from a local big box store and they didn't fit. I only wish they still made them without the holes in the bottom of the drip pan.
