Did some online research and everything pointed to the fact that moisture was getting into the freezer and therefore the seal was not doing it's job. I ran my finger along the seal and sure enough I detected cold air coming out of one corner of the seal. After taking the two vegetable drawers out from above, the glass shelf, the pantry drawer and the cross support for the glass, you can get to the two recessed hex head screws holding the end cap. You will need to transfer the metal drawer slide to the new cap, but it doesn't need to come off first. When the end cap is loose, gently rotate it toward the front. Before we replaced the board, my wife tried to replace just the element. We had one we had ordered several years ago when this same thing happened. When that didn't work we replaced the board and could see where the old board was damaged so we figured this was the solution. After reviewing the 'how to' video on AppliancePartsPros.com, I unplugged the refrigerator and removed the back cover to access the motor. I then unplugged the wiring and removed the bad motor. I cut the clip plug and wired it to the new motor, installed the fan blade from the old motor and re-installed the new motor. Unplugged refrigerator and removed access panel from back of fridge. Have had this panel off many times for dust removal. Panel is a cheap piece of glorified cardboard on this Whirlpool model, which is a shame given that it was a $1000 refrigerator. Our Kenmore (Whirlpool) refrigerator's ice maker had stopped making ice. Replaced the water line and water supply solenoid valve (slight weeping at valve body also). This is a 3 year old whirlpool refrigerator, model WRX988SIBM00. A crack in the water line after only 3 years is a poor design. My intent was to replace the entire water line from the valve to the filter. You'll need a screwdriver with one of those small square heads and a small socket wrench. Remove ice bin. Unscrew 2 screws on casing surrounding the ice box in order to lift it up and out. Remove 4 screws from plastic piece beneath the ice box that the coupling is mounted to and is part of the ice chute. The timer knob simply pulls off the shaft with a solid, steady pull. Cleaned the timer cavity of lint/dust buildup. Aligned the keying flat of the shaft and knob and pushed the new knob on with careful, steady pressure until it was obviously seated. No tools required other than a vacuum. The door switch would sometimes not shut the dryer off when the door was opened. New switch came with new fast-on connectors. The fridge is 20+ years old in a home we recently moved into. It sounded like a motor getting stuck on something or grinding weird... was hoping it wasn't something more serious. Replaced both inlet valves, no joy. Upon further inspection, found ice maker harness extremely tight at lower freezer door hinge, clamped in place right at a pivot point. Essentially the harness is held in place and rotates with the door. 6 wires broken inside. Splice repair and ice maker now works. Most likely will have to replace harness eventually. Unless there is more slack inside the freezer door this will probably happen again. Very poor design. Read more
