This is a medium burner bowl, also sometimes known as a drip pan, and it is made for ranges, stoves, and cooktops. This is a genuine replacement part made by General Electric. The burner bowl is situated underneath the heating element and is able to catch any food or debris that falls when cooking. The bowl or drop pan is there to catch any and all waste so that the user may easily clean up after the heat is turned off and the appliance is cooled down.A new medium burner bowl might be needed if the current one is damaged in any way including being broken or bent so that is it not fully secure under the burner. This is an OEM part sourced directly from the manufacturer. It is sold individually and is compatible with ranges, stoves, or cooktops made by General Electric.
Repair was really simple. Removed power from stove to insure igniter would not fire. Removed parts to gain access to 2 screws securing burner bowls to stove top. Removed screws. Lifted up burner bowl and disconnected igniter wire from igniter and removed old burner bowl seal. Transferred igniter to new burner bowl and installed new burner bowl seal.Connected igniter wire and secured burner bowl assembly to stovetop with screws. Replaced parts removed earlier. Tappen Gas Stove circa 1981 (uses Fridgidaire parts). Unplugged stove from 110 wall outlet. Spark control module located on back side of stove about mid-way down on left side under a black cover that juts out. Black cover had 2 phillips head screws...removed the black cover and the spark module was right there...held on by 2 additional phillips screws.
