The Magnetron is an OEM part for LG microwaves. As the primary cooking mechanism, it generates microwave energy to heat and cook foods quickly.

Causes can be from normal wear and tear over years of use. Damage may also occur if the microwave interior is exposed to moisture, spills or debris.

Symptoms of a faulty magnetron include:

• Slow or ineffective cooking
• Hot or cold spots in cooked foods
• Buzzing or humming noises emanating from inside the microwave

This magnetron is the high-voltage microwave tube that generates the microwave energy used to cook and reheat food in your oven. Replacing a failing magnetron restores heating performance when the rest of the microwave system is functioning. What it does:

• Generates microwave energy that heats food inside the oven cavity
• Common symptom: unit powers on but does not heat
• May also cause loud humming, burning smell, or arcing when failing
• Works with the oven's high-voltage circuit and waveguide to deliver even cooking
