Replacing a magnetron in my particular 9-year-old microwave (a microwave/hood combination) was not a simple “plug & play” operation. That is why I am placing this in the slightly difficult area. First, it takes 2 people to remove the microwave from the top of the stove. Next the main outer panel need to be removed. After that, 2 sheet metal panels need to be removed in order to expose the high voltage components for testing. Always discharge the high voltage capacitor first before doing... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Ge monogram zmc1095sf02 microwave   Christopher L. • Saint Charles , IL • December 15, 2014

Wife let me know the microwave was making grinding noise while I was in garage fixing her car starter, never a dull moment. Further questioning she also said it wan't heating the food. Due to being an odd sized built in $$ unit I had to have repaired. I was getting quotes in the $4-500 range for just the magnetron. I was pretty confident the magnetron was the issue and also ordered a new capacitor and diode since I was going to be in there and a lot of money ahead repairing myself. About... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Microwave stopped heating even though it ran   Elizabeth W. • Pemberton , NJ • March 08, 2016

Chatted with a verified expert at justanswer.com (for a fee), he confirmed the parts I needed. AppliancePartsPros.com had them in stock AND they were 100% returnable/refundable if I didn't use them or weren't what was bad, even if I installed them! Where can you get that kind of guarantee anymore? Used some YouTube videos to learn how to support the microwave to get it down, & we moved it to the table, I took out the old magnetron and high voltage diode and replaced with the OEM magnetron and... This was a total novice job which will be apparent: Managed not to kill myself getting the microwave off the wall over the stove. disassembled the housing and watched youtube videos on discharging the capacitor (there has got to be an easier way than trying to cause an explosion). Fortunately it had difused and no sparks touching the terminals. Removed the diode and capacitor and checked both with non-digital voltmeter.
