This is a genuine OEM valve cover kit which contains the valve cover and inner gasket. The valve cover covers the engine's valves on chippers, tillers, log splitters, and other outdoor lawn and garden equipment. The cover protects the valves from exposure to weather and prevents oil from seeping out and causing damage. The gasket inside the valve cover ensures the lid is sealed tightly against the engine.Valve covers and the gasket require periodic inspection and regular maintenance. An inspection will indicate if removal and replacement are needed. Maintenance assures the gasket is replaced periodically to keep the seal tight. Heat, rain, snow, and normal wear and tear can lead to cracks in the cover and the gasket. Leaking oil, smelling burned oil, engine misfires, and reduced engine performance are good signs that the gasket and cover need to be removed and replaced.
