I replaced the Ice Dispenser Lever. Since the replacement part is only available in white and my fridge is bone, I replaced also the Water Dispenser Lever, so it looks much better. Whenever the drawer was opened, it would fall of the guide rails. This lead to the drawer being crooked several times. I took the drawer out and noticed one of the glides was missing. Ordered a new pair, popped it on and now the drawer slides properly. Read more

Removed the handle with two screws on the inside front and pulled out the custom wood panel. Pulled the compactor out from under cabinet. Tipped it over on back of unit, supporting it with a little foot stool. Unscrewed two lower screws at bottom of unit holding black trim panel (that held wood panel in place) and lower black rubber flap. I should have first taken the dispenser assembly apart but I didn't--it looked a little too intimidating to do twice. We actually were able to determine that one of the freezer switches was bad and taped it down for about 3 days. The beeping stopped. Our fridge has two freezer switches and one fridge side switch. I ordered all three from these guys. They were cheaper than Whirlpool by about $20 for parts and about $15 for shipping. Purchased a new ice maker, and mounting bracket, installed them, plugged in the ice maker. One note of advice. Put your old ice maker and ALL extra parts in a safe place where you can find them, but your significant other cannot. Why? Because if your significant finds them he/she may dispose of them and you will need them to install your new ice maker, I have learned the hard way. Read more
