The problem was that the motor coupler & shaft had a tiny bit of rust at their union. With the weight of the ice bin it rusted in the lowest position. This didn't allow the motor coupler to float on the shaft. There is a spring inside the shaft that pushes up on the motor coupler keeping it engaged in the ice bin coupler above. This coupler in turn rotates the auger in the bin to dispense the ice. I removed the motor coupler & shaft, tapped the coupler loose and filed off the rust. This allowed... Read more

This was actually one of the easiest fixes I’ve done. All that was required was to remove 3 screws to remove the broken part. I used a pair of pliers to remove the moisture sensors from the broken part to the new one. Read more

I have a Whirlpool Side-by-side Model ED22PWXBW01. A year ago, the ice cubes started freezing together in the rear of the ice bin for no apparent reason. Reservoir installation went off without a hitch outside of the added step of the need to remove the entire main in waterline assy in order to access the connectors which also were not as represented in video, in that they were not the press-to-release type but standard threaded compression types. The Whirlpool refrigerator ice maker is a good design. The 8 32 screw was a problem I could not remove it with the thread lock it prevented me from unscrewing it. Therefore I replaced the shaft the splined hub and spacer washers. It seems to work fine now. Read more

Reviewed the AppliancePartsPros.com site and decided that the most likely suspect was the ice motor. I ordered one and got it FAST! I removed the water ice tray in the bottom of the Ice/water kiosk which exposed two phillips screws which I removed. The front panel came off by lifting upward and unplugging it.
