Broken fan blade Thomas H. • West Blocton , AL • April 21, 2014
I used a set of ring pliers to remove the old retaining ring, then spread the plastic ribs around the fan motor shaft with a small flat bladed screwdriver to ease removal of the old fan blade. I reversed the process to replace the blade, gently tapping a socket from my socket wrench set placed over the motor shaft and ribs with a small rubber mallet. I stopped when the shaft protruded about 1/8" beyond the plastic ribs of the new fan blade, then installed the new retaining clamp ring with the...

I ordered a new ice maker switched it out took less than 3 minutes. The cord was very stiff and just long enough but I got it to connect and in 35-40 minutes I had fresh ICE!!

Yes ice was not coming out of the dispenser Jason S. • Goose Creek , SC • December 02, 2014
I replaced the solenoid, door, spring and bucket. The bucket cracked from ice freezing inside it. Ice froze inside the bucket because the solenoid stopped pulling the door closed which allowed hot humid air into the freezer. While I was in there I replaced the dispenser door, spring and crank because they are cheap and the old ones were moldy. The mold is most likely from the door not closing and causing condensation on the parts as well.

Door solenoid with plunger.
Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You
When dispensing ice from the ice maker, the solenoid was buzzing loudly. It was also rusting badly. Brian B. • Hudson , NH • March 28, 2014
I ordered a new solenoid and when it arrived, I installed it as follows: I cut the power to the refrigerator. I then pulled off the rubber boot (and it's plastic frame) that covers the water switch. Then I removed the bezel that covers the front of the ice maker controls by pulling it straight out. Then I removed the four screws found on the assembly under the bezel. After pulling the assembly forward a bit, I detached the multi-wire connector attached to it and put the assembly aside....

Ice dispenser wouldn't dispense ice Chris K. • Felton , DE • April 29, 2025
The auger gearbox shaft had a spot that was stripped of threads which prevented the auger drive from spinning the ice down the chute. I replaced the auger motor/gearbox assembly, the auger drive as it had to be cut off the shaft, and the 3 mount bolts that hold it all in place. Whole job took 30 minutes from start to finish which included cutting off the drive bracket.

I ordered a replacement auger from AppliancePartsPros.com. Upon receipt of the new auger, I watched the repair video and took the ice crusher apart. I found several other parts that needed to be replaced as well. Once All the parts were received, I again watched the video. The video was not specific enough to show how to reassemble the ice crusher blades and the two types of washers. I found another video on YouTube that walked me through specific details of assembly and everything went...
