Ordered door latch part and new spring. You Tube video helped me identify what I needed. I tried the fix recommended and it didn't work so I ordered the parts. It took less than 5 minutes to switch out the old for the new. If the door doesn't latch, you can't run the microwave and it's key. It wasn't an expensive or hard fix to get my microwave up and running again. So pleased with AppliancePartsPros for having what I needed and being reasonable about pricing. Knowing the odds of 2 failures occurring at the same exact time was unusually high, I just searched your site for what other broken items might affect these two failures. Came up with next control item upstream and tallied that item failure with percentages of successful repairs, (4 mins.) door safety switch. LG Help-line said probably a failed magnetron, but since out of warranty,referred me to an authorized LG repair service. They wanted $79.95 service call to come out & diagnose problem. I ordered replacement magnetron for less than cost of a service call, Plus the part was delivered next day! Works like new again. Happy wife = happy life! I have a multimeter so I was able to check the fuse per website recommendations and it was blown. However, the capacitor on the microwave was also original so I elected to replace the capacitor, fuse, and the ground protect diode. The repair was very simple (making sure the capacitor was discharged before replacing) and the microwave is now up and running again. I googled the make and model, and found the part on AppliancePartsPros.com. The underside of the oven has a metal grille with numerous openings of various shapes and sizes. There is a rectangle that is punched into this grille, just below the motor. I pried between the vent holes to snap the connections near the perimeter on the punched rectangle. Contacted several local places, & on line. However none carried the part or made it difficult, which I realized they just didn't know how to look for the part I wanted. I contacted appliance parts, & they immediately found it & it was not as expensive as other places who did not stock it to begin with. They sent it right away, & I received it in less than 3 days. The tray was an easy fix as I looked up Kenmore Microwave and ordered the replacement. The light bulb was a little trickier as to replace it you must have a special screwdriver that has a 5-pointed bit with a hole in the middle. This is because nothing else is safely serviceable on the microwave. I unplugged the microwave and moved it to my kitchen table to do the work.
