Jerry September 13, 2013 for Model Number FRS26DR7DS3 The ice dispenser works but only dispenses crushed ice. The led indicator lights work on both "cube" and "crush" buttons when pressed, but only crushed ice dispenses for either. What aprt do I need? Jer
1 Answer Hello Jerry, First, remove the crusher bin and pour your ice into a bowl. Make sure the smaller pieces of ice that tend to freeze together in the bottom of the bin are removed. Now make sure the little shift lever on the bottom of the bin moves the diverter in the crusher head. If so, look into the back of the shelf where it sits in the freezer and make sure the small square thing in there is in the down position. If not, pull it down and put the ice back into the bin and re-insert it into the unit and try dispensing. If it still does not work, run a hair dryer in the back of the ice bin shelf with the bin out. Warm the back of the shelf with the hair dryer for at least 15 minutes. If this makes the unit operate properly, the cube solenoid was frozen up. If it still does not operate properly, the solenoid will require replacement if voltage is getting to it. If no voltage is getting to it, the harness at the door hinge should be checked for broken or shorted wires. If these are OK, the micro switches in the dispense area should be tested. Read More...
Pernell July 26, 2013 Ice dispenser doesn't work when paddle is applied. Nothing clicks or hums. I have removed ice bin and unfrozen auger. Water does dispense. Frigidaire model number FRS6KR5JSB4. Thanks
1 Answer Hello Pernell. You will need to test the dispenser switch in the dispenser. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Jose April 12, 2013 for Model Number FRS26LF8CW1 The ice make only produces crush ice, no cubes. I took apart the front panel and looked inside, I see a circuit board which I believe is Dispenser Control board, and I see a switch. Not sure what the part failure is the problem. I would appreciate the help on isolating this.
1 Answer Jose, You will want to check the crushed cube solenoid to make sure that it is not stuck in the up position and that it is not broken. To access the solenoid, pull the ice bin out and there is a square opening on the auger motor housing. If the solenoid is in the up position then pull it down and see if it dispenses cubes. If the solenoid is down then you will want to see if the shaft moves up and down and check to make sure that the solenoid is not broken. Read More...
Jeff April 04, 2013 for Model Number FFUS2613LS0 At the same time, water stopped dispensing and the ice dispensing motor doesn't activate. The motor doesn't turn on even with the ice bin removed and "closed door" switch being pressed. There is no humming from the motor. The ice machine continues to make plenty of ice. While triggering either the water or ice actuator, the night light is on as it should be. After a few times of triggering an actuator, the cubed and crushed LEDs will light up simultaneously, which is strange. I can press either the cubed or crushed button, to activate just that LED and clear the other one.
1 Answer Jeff, You will want to check the wiring of the door for the unit. You will want to look for loose or broken connections. You will also want to check the dispenser control board wiring to make sure that there are no loose or broken connections. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Ted March 26, 2013 for Model Number E23CS78EPS2 When I depress the paddle for ice. The door, auger - clicks on and off but if I really push the paddle firmly and hold back firmly, the ice will dispense. Seems like something like a switch or something was depressed to far in and now is either out of adjustment or broken? Thanks
1 Answer Ted, It sounds like the door assembly ice chute 241688401 may be damaged. You will want to pull the dispenser apart and check the gears on the door. If the gears break it will cause the dispenser to have to be pushed in harder in order to get the ice to dispenser. Also check for the dispenser lever to be possibly be broken or cracked. Sergio M December 25, 2012 for Model Number FRS3HR5JW2 Hi, The water dispenser on my Frigidare Model FRS3HR5JW2 is not dispensing water. I have replaced the water filter and the valve. I have confirmed the valve and switch are working, because when I disconnect the hose at the bottom of the freezer door and actuate the dispenser, water comes out. However, when I connect it back, the water does not come out of the dispensing nozzel/spout. Would you happen to know what else could be wrong? It would seem that the hose is clogged, but I find this unlikely. Thank you, Sergio
1 Answer Hello Sergio. Based on the information you provided, the fill tube inside the door is frozen and will need to be thawed out to work properly. You can do this with a hair drier, or just open the door for 4 to 6 hours and leave the unit off to thaw the unit. Read More...
Bill December 03, 2012 for Model Number FRS26LF7DS7 The water dispenser on the front of the fridge dispenses water on its own it will fill a 16 oz cup in a few hours. Is this some type of switch that is going bad?
1 Answer Heloo Bill. If the dispenser is dripping and leaking, you will need to order and replace the water valve. If the dispenser just comes on and turns off to fill the glass, you will need to order the diode kit 240567001 and replace it on the unit. Read More...
Jeff P. September 23, 2012 for Model Number ED25QFHXW00 Ice dispenser motor/ solenoid not working. I have tried the removing bin, taping door sensor closed, when I press the dispenser nothing happens, no movement or noise at all. The water still dispenses and all the lights/switches work. I see there are a few things to try, but unsure what to order/do in this case. Its a whirlpool ED25QFHXW00 side by side. Seems to be alot of issues with the motor/board failing. The ice flapper opens and closes fine. Any advice direction would be great. Thanks! jeff
1 Answer Hi. Remove the ice bin. If the auger is frozen in place you need to thaw it out and dry it and the chopper blades as well. Tape the freezer door shut as well and command the ice / auger motor to dispense. If it works now then it was a frozen auger bin. Test both the ice and the crush to see if the crush solenoid part # WP2152713 pulls up and releases when the other command is selected. If the auger motor part # WP2188242 hums then replace it. Thank You. Read More...
Frak August 29, 2012 for Model Number PHS68EJSBO How do I access the microswitch to check it (ap3959579)?
1 Answer Hello Frak, Unplug the unit or turn off the breaker to the unit. Verify the power is off before continuing. Remove the drip tray and grasp the bottom of the dispenser cover assembly and pull down and away from the door at the same time with your knee against the door to prevent it from opening when you pull. This will pop the bottom loose and it can be slid up to unhook the top off of the door. Now the dispense cover is only attached by wires. I usually use electrical tape to suspend this assembly up out of the way. There should be four screws holding the module in place. Once you remove the screws, the switches are on the backside of this assembly. Read More...
