Matteo July 30, 2018 for Model Number GE GSH22JFTAWW I am having a problem with my refrigerator. The freezer doesn't seem to hold temperature. It's set on 5 on the display and the temperature was on 0*F most of the time but lately, it goes up to 15°F to 20*F. The ice cubes are frozen together and I can see ice cream containers not as cold as usual. A technician came today but didn't do much. He just told me it is probably the motherboard or sensor. Could it be the sensor or the main board? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Matteo, This can be an issue with the temperature sensors WR55X10025 or the main board WR55X10942C but the main board should not be considered unless the sensors have been tested first. Also, make sure the fans are running at full speed and the frost pattern is good. Read More...
Rob July 29, 2018 for Model Number PS123SGRB Both freezer and refrigerator have stopped cooling. The control panel on top of refrigerator side has no info, and won't reset. Both sides have the lights working. Is the control panel. or the temperature sensor the issue?
1 Answer Rob, You will want to go to the main control board and test at the J4 connector from the red to black wire and see if there is 12vdc. If there is not then this will be a main control board issue. The control board part number will be WR55X10942C. Read More...
Robert Willoughby July 10, 2018 for Model Number PSS27SGPASS Where is the temperature sensor located What do I NEED TO REMOVE
1 Answer Robert, the temperature sensor in the refrigerator section is located in the back left, about 8 inches from the top of the cabinet. You will need to remove the shelf and use a 1/4 inch nut driver to access the cover. Read More...
Joe July 07, 2018 for Model Number GE Refrigerator Model TPX24BPDA BB The defrost heater runs for approximately 40-45 minutes, semi melting the ice cubes in the ice box into a solid block, enabling to use the ice maker to extract ice cubes. I replaced the defrost timer and defrost thermostat, but the problem still persists. Any suggestions ???--- I am giving up--- considering calling a repair service. Thank you -Joe
1 Answer Joe, This issue would normally be caused by a sticking defrost timer since the timer is designed for 30 min run time and it is sticking at the final part of the cycle. You could have gotten a faulty timer for the unit. This would be the most likely cause for this issue. Read More...
Joe July 02, 2018 for Model Number GE Refrigerator Model TPX24BPDA BB The defrost heater runs about 35 to 45 minutes before turning off. I had replaced the Timer Defrost and Defrost thermostat and the defrost heater still runs over 35 minutes before it shuts off. I am suspecting a faulty Defrost temperature sensor. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thank you -Joe
1 Answer Joe, you have a mechanical defrost timer that puts the unit into defrost about every 8 hrs. There is a defrost bi-metal that will terminate the circuit to the heater so that it does not overheat. As long as the timer and bi-metal are operating properly I would not be concerned. Read More...
Carolina June 15, 2018 I have a GE GSS25UFMCWW that was not cooling properly. When I checked the coils, they were frozen. I replaced the defrost heater, defrost timer, and the thermistor in the freezer and that did not solve the problem. I next replaced the control board and still no cooling. What else could it be?
1 Answer Carolina, You will want to double check installation of the heaer and the defrost thermistor. These would be the most likely cause for no cool defrost issue. Read More...
John May 28, 2018 for Model Number PDS22MFWABB My refrigerator has the freezer on the bottom. The Top half of refrigerator is warm with a temperature of 69°F and the bottom (freezer) has a temperature of 24°F. The top half should be 34°F and the bottom half should be 0°F. How many temperature sensors does this model have and where are they located? Also, is there a video I can watch that shows how to replace them?
1 Answer Hello John, You should first check for a frost build-up on the back wall of the freezer compartment. This would indicate a defrost issue. There is one temperature sensor located in the fresh food compartment behind the louvered sensor cover. Some are located in a hidden cover at the top of the shelf track. This is normally located about halfway up the fresh food wall. There will be a sensor in the freezer at the top right of the evaporator cover and there is one in the evaporator compartment where the Freon lines come into the back wall. There is a video showing the sensors in a GE unit on the page for WR55X10025. Read More...
Rosa May 21, 2018 for Model Number CFSP5RKBC-SS I need to replace temperature sensor but I do not know where it is located. Thank you
1 Answer Hello Rosa, You should see the temperature sensor cover WR02X13224 in the fresh food compartment on the wall near the middle of the unit. The temperature sensor is located under this louvered grille cover and it should snap from the fresh food wall to expose the sensor WR55X10025 underneath. Read More...
Kevin April 20, 2018 for Model Number PSS26PSTASS Refrigerator side temperature doesn't seem to match what the digital program says. Is there a refrigerator temperature sensor??
1 Answer Hello Kevin. You will need to order WR55X10025 for the thermistor for your model number. It senses the temp in the fresh food section. Thank you. Read More...
Mark B March 08, 2018 for Model Number PSSMSTA26SS I have replaced the defrost heater(twice!) and the defrost thermostat but i continue to have ice buildup in the freezer as well as the temperature being around 15 degrees in the freezer and 40 degrees in fridge itself. Is it the control board or the temp sensor?
1 Answer Mark, You would want to check the sensor for a resistance of 42.2K ohms at room temperature. If this checks ok then the control board will be the issue. Read More...
