Earl January 05, 2013 for Model Number GE monogram ZISS360DRCSS Refrigerator not cooling, but freezer is working, shut down for 24 hours works great for about 7 days. Then freezer starts going lower in to - degrees and refrigerator starts going up stays in the 40 to 45 degrees
1 Answer Earl, You're describing a defrost issue. You'll need to conduct several tests to determine the failed component(s). It could be a faulty thermostat [WR50X10088] or a Main control board WR55X10560. Read More...
Cris December 28, 2012 for Model Number PSS26NGPA BB Dear Sir, A friend has this GE unit. He called me and said both the freezer and fridge stopped cooling. I instructed him to unplug the unit for 5 minutes to reset the main board and to keep an eye on it. He did so and the unit started cooling again. After about one day the unit stopped cooling again. He continued this process and every time the system would reset. After a while the system would stop cooling for about a day and then cool again only to stop again. The digital readout in the fridge shows "tc". Since there is no frost and the evaporator fans are blowing when in cooling cycle, should I consider that this may very well be a problem with the temperature sensor, or because both sides are affected should I be looking to the main control board?
1 Answer Hello Cris. Based on the information you provided, if all fans are running, you will need to order and replace the main control board on the unit. Read More...
Michael December 25, 2012 What temperature opens or closes the circuit in this temperature censor (WR55X10025)? Thank you.
1 Answer Hello Michael. The sensor WR55X10025 does not open or close due to temperature. It causes the resistance to change and the control board reads the change and sees the temperature in the unit. If the resistance is bad, then the sensor is bad and will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Joe S December 22, 2012 for Model Number GSS25XSNA Fresh food side is too cold even when set on the lowest number. Would like to test the thermistor. Question does one get it out of the fridge. The wires are hidden the the separator wall and then I presume go down to the motherboard. If it needs to be replaced how is the replacement done. Thanks, Joe Stone
1 Answer Hello Joe, You would not pull the thermistor out unless you are replacing it. The thermistor would have to be spliced into place once removed. You would check the thermistor at the control board. You may want to pull your tower from the refrigerator section and check the damper assembly WR49X10091 to see if the door on the damper is broken. This is the most likely cause for the unit to get too cold in the refrigerator section. Read More...
Lee November 28, 2012 for Model Number GSH25JFRF WW The refrigerator part turns cold and freeze food at warmest setting. Could you show me how to test to know which parts to replace? Thank you
1 Answer Hello Lee, You may want to check your damper assembly WR09X10050 to see if the door is broken. If the door is broken it will air to migrate to the refrigerator compartment causing freezing issues. Also check to make sure that the dameper door is not staying open. When you take the cover off with the door open the damper should close. If the damper is open then you need to replace the damper. Read More...
Joi November 24, 2012 for Model Number gsh22ksre ss Freezer working great refrigarator side note cool enough 42 degrees.
1 Answer Hello Joi, You may want to check to see if the back wall of the freezer has frost building up on it. It may be necessary to remove the back cover to check. If the evaporator coils have heavy frost build up then you will need to check your defrost thermostat WR50X10068 and defrost heater WR51X10101 for continuity. If they both check out ok then you would need to replace the evaporator thermistor WR55X10025 and control board WR55X10942C. Read More...
Joe November 24, 2012 for Model Number GSS25TGPACC..... SER. # TF 422815 Replaced the freezer fan about 5 yrs ago,,need new one again, looked at it and has the 2 additional wires going down into coil area,,assume this a temp sensor or what, but the model # says i don't have this type.. What gives ?? ... ,and why do these panasonic fans give out so easily,,should last at least 10yrs or more.....Not like the old days for sure.
1 Answer Hello Joe, The correct evaporator fan motor for you unit without the sensor on it is WR60X10185. Some models have the sensor wire attached to the terminal for the evaporator thermistor. Your model is showing that the thermistor is not connected to the molex connector. Read More...
Lennet November 19, 2012 for Model Number GSS25LGMF Where are temp sensors located in fresh food side of refrigerator. Drawing seems to indicate that they are located under appliance light bulbs but they are not there. Thanks,
1 Answer Hello Lennet, You sensors on this unit will be located on the left side wall of unit under 2 grills WR02X10647. If you are having a problem with freezing in the refrigerator compartment then you may also want to check the damper door in the duct assembly WR49X10091 to ensure that it is not broken. If broken then it will need to be replaced. Read More...
Tony W. November 14, 2012 for Model Number PSS25MGNA CC A repair man was fixing my water dispenser and the interior lights in the top of the refrigerator stopped working. He said it had timed out because the door had been open so long. That was 5 hours ago and they are still not coming on. The lights near the crisper are working. I checked the bulbs to be good. Is there a reset button for when it times out or do I have a different problem?
1 Answer Hello Tony, Sounds like the technician left the door opened too long without unplugging it. The circuit will get hot and this can cause one of the sockets to over heat and lose connection. If the repair man was from a company that warrants its' work, you should call and see if they will come back and repair the mistake. Read More...
Gidget November 12, 2012 for Model Number GSS201EPHWW I have a GE side by side. The coils in the freezer keep freezing over about every week. I replaced the defroster heater and thermostat twice. The second time I replaced the heater and thermostat the heater would not come on. I took and put it in the repair shop. I just got it out of the repair shop which they checked everything out including the mother board, which was fine. The only thing they said it needed was freon and it was added. My defrost heater will still not come on. What else could it possibly be?
1 Answer Hello Gidget, There are basically five parts to the defrost circuit on these units. The defrost heater WR51X10101, the defrost thermostat WR50X10068, the evaporator thermistor, the main control board, and the wiring harness (which is mostly unserviceable). Basically, the evaporator thermistor tells the main control board the temperature of the evaporator coils. The heater melts the frost from the coils. The defrost thermostat prevents the temperature from the defrost cycle from getting warm enough to melt frozen foods. The main control sends commands to the individual components based on the information it has received. If the heater and thermostat have been replaced, all that's left is the evaporator thermistor WR55X10025 and the main control board WR55X10942C, (since the harness is unserviceable). -- GSS20IEPHWW Read More...
