Joe, Reducing the water fill would not change this issue with overfilling. The part that would be needed is a new icemaker.

Christopher for Model Number Samsung RS261MDRS

My Ice Maker, DA97-08059A, has been working just fine for years. Recently, it has been filling up and dumping water that hasn't had a chance to freeze into the bin causing it to flood out of the ice dispenser onto my floor. I put a regular bin in there to catch the water while testing around with different strategies for fixing it and it still overflows in excess of a gallon of water in the matter of less than 7 hours (which is a ton). There are NOT partial ice cubes failing to eject from the tray which. I assume that it is a defective ice sensor that causes it to dump it prematurely, but wanted some expert reassurance. When I turn the "ICE OFF" and hit the Test Button, I get Ice that is formed perfectly and completely frozen, so I do believe the freeze is at an adequate temperature. Should I just replace the entire assembly? What do you think is causing the issue? Thank you!

Hello Christopher. Make sure the unit is 0 to 5°. If to cold, it will cycle to early. If temp is correct, replace the icemaker.

Andrea, For this issue it sounds like it would be caused by a faulty control board causing the icemaker to shut off.

The gap is usually located inside the area where the ice buck installs. Look on all corners and seams. If you see light coming through, there is a gap there.
