Questions & Answers

For Samsung Refrigerator Lcd Control Board Assembly (Part Number: OEM13353000)

1 Answer

Chris, Try to press and hold the ice off button for 3 seconds and see if the unit will start working again. If this does not work then it would most likely be an issue with the main control board.

Janice, it would be recommended that the main control DA41-00524A is tested for DC voltage at the wire connection CN50. With the black probe of a meter at the gray wire located at pin 5, the red probe would be placed at the orange wire on pin 4. There should be a 5VDC reading if the control is sending proper voltage at this point. The next step would be to move the red probe to the red wire and there should be 12VDC. If the voltages are reading properly, the next step would be to test the same wires on the display control to identify if there is a wire failure. If the same voltage readings do not reach the display assembly using the same colored wire test points, there is a broken wire. If there was not correct voltage, the wires at the hinge would need to be tested to identify if there is a broken wire in the door or in the cabin.

The control panel on our refrigerator has been not working now for several years, I've had a repairman out twice to fix and it has quit again shortly after they left, both times. It shows 88, with the right set blinking. I've tried pushing the power freeze and freezer buttons for 3-5 seconds but get no response. The refrigerator (and freezer) are working fine otherwise, with the exception of not being able to get ice from the door, only water. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Nance, This actually sounds like a connection issue. I would start by making sure the outlet the refrigerator is plugged into is tight. Then inspect the wiring harness where it passes into the door hinge. This is a common place to find problems since the harness bends back and forth every time the door is opened and closed. The next thing to do is unplug and reconnect every wire on the main board several times so if there is any carbon on the terminals, it will wear it off and re-establish electrical continuity. You will then need to open the dispenser area and do the same thing to the connections in there. In some cases, you would want to use an electrical contact cleaner on every terminal to make sure an electrical contact is made at each point. If all connections have been cleaned and the problem still exists, there may be a "cold solder joint" on one of the control boards, causing the microprocessor to lose power and display the "88", indicating a power interruption.

John, what this is indicating is that the demo mode has been set. If power freeze and freezer were pressed at the same time for about 3 seconds, this will engage the demo mode (cooling off mode). To cancel the demo mode, press the power freeze and freezer buttons and hold them down until the unit makes a ding-dong sound. This sound indicates that the unit has been set to cooling mode.

1. Ice maker does not make ice. If I press the reset, it cycles but no water enters the ice maker. I replaced the water valve on the back. Still does not make ice. We can get water out of the door. Any ideas? 2. Several of the leds on the touch panel do not light up. This is the 3rd panel. Probably need another one of those. 3. The freezer door clunks when opening and closing. Sound is coming from the bottom. Is this the cam riser? We are not happy with this unit. It is not very old. But a new counter depth refrig is way more than the cost of parts. Any help would be appreciated.

1 Answer

Larry, For this issue with the LEDs not lighting up then the panel would need replaced. For the issue of no water coming into the icemaker check for a frozen fill tube and if it is not frozen then the icemaker would be the most likely issue. For the dispenser clunking when opening and closing then this would be the chute that needs replaced.

Jim, If you have an ice off function then check to make sure that the ice is turned on the unit. If not then the dispenser control board will likely be the issue .

Kelly, If any of the segments on the 88 88 are flashing then this would be an error and will need to determine what the error code would be.This is typically why that 88 88 would come up.

Sue for Model Number RSG257AARS/XAA-0000

Hello! A Samsung repairman looked at the unit and said it was the panel. I replaced the display panel part number DA41-00522A. Freezer still will not drop below 10 degrees and the fridge side is around 45-50 degrees. The panel is set for -2 and 36 degrees and claims that is what the temps are. I ran the self diagnostics Function it showed no errors. How do I check to see if there is a defrost issue? Would this be considered a sealed system error? In your customer help section I see where people replaced a temp sensor. Is this considered a sealed system error? My unit still is under the 5 year warranty but not for long! The repairman claimed he has never had to fix a sealed system problem. Thanks so much for any help you can provide. Sue

1 Answer

Hello Sue. Make sure the coils are clean and the condenser fan motor is running properly. If so, then it could be a sealed system issue since both sections are not working properly.

Hello Sue. You will need to check and see if there is a defrost issue with the unit. If the display is not working it could be a main control board issue affecting the unit.
