Charlie March 24, 2012 for Model Number 110.24812200 I have a Kenmore washer 80 series HD. Model:110.24812200. on spin cycle it makes a very load noise, tub rocking back & forth and continues spinning after timer stops.Every thing else works fine.Is this the brake,if so how do you replace them.THANK YOU
1 Answer Charlie, Sounds more like the drive block is worn WP389140 or tub nut is loose WP21366, Hopefully the drive tube tabs aren't damaged W10820043 Once you remove the agitator, and attempt to loosen and remove the spanner nut,You can tell if the block is stripped/worn out. As for replacing the brake shoes, clutch, and drive tube. Here's a post from the APP Repair Forum, that should answer most of your questions. Ed February 25, 2012 for Model Number WTW57ESVW0 My washer has been thrashing and vibrating abnormally during the spin cycle,I recently replaced the 4 suspension springs and the condition is better, but still not solved,I think I need to replace the balance ring, how can I tell if the balance ring is faulty. is there a way to diagnose a bad balance ring? Thanks, Ed
1 Answer Ed, First check and make sure the washer is level in both directionss, and as close to the floor as possible and the levelling leg nuts are locked in place, and the rear self levelling/locking legs are locked in place. To access and remove the tub balance ring, you'll need to, flip the control panel up, remove the cabinet, then unsnap the tub cover clips and set it aside. You may need a screwdriver to carefully release the plastic tabs that hold the ring to the openings in the inner basket. Once you have it removed, you want to check for any hairline cracks in the assembly, and if you shake the ring, you should hear and feel a water "sloshing" noise. if the ring is OK. L.S. February 12, 2012 for Model Number LSC6244AWO The balance ring is filled with a liquid. Is it water, is it totally filled or half? Does the liquid ever leak out?
1 Answer Hello L.S! The balance ring is filled with a certain type of non poisonous chemical. Unfortunately, this chemical is unknown the manufacture does not advise this information. The balance ring is half full and can leak if damaged. Thanks! Read More...
Gene R. September 28, 2011 for Model Number WTW57ESVW1 I removed and replaced the balance ring onto the spin basket. I did not mark the original placement of the ring on the spin drum. Will this cause an out of balance condition? Also, the balance ring is about 25% full of water. Is the water suppose to be sloshing around in the balance ring?
1 Answer Hello Gene. No, this will not cause an out of balance problem. Also there is suppose to be water in the balance ring WP387240. Hope this helps. Read More...
John S. September 15, 2011 for Model Number RAS 8244 k A great answer to remove the balance ring but the question is how to install it. Do you come in from the top? Up from under the edge of the wash tub? Or lock in with a twist on the side? I just don't want to ruin the tabs on a good ring. Thanks John
1 Answer Hello John. You will press the balance ring WP387240 onto the tub assembly from the top to lock it into place. Hope this helps. Read More...
