Hello Roger, This model has an electronic adaptive defrost board W11227239 in place of the defrost timer. It is inside the control box. Checking the Adaptive Defrost Control 1. Disconnect the unit from the power source. 2. Open the fresh food door and remove any items on the top shelf. 3. Remove the light shield and the temperature control housing. Remove the light shield cover by pulling down on the back corners of the cover and sliding the cover forward. Remove the fascia/radiant shield mounting screws. Remove the control housing mounting screw at the back of the control housing. Slide the control housing to the right and lower it from the control housing supports. 4. Connect the refrigerator to a wattmeter. 5. Make sure compressor is running (cold control closed). 6. Using an insulated number 22 jumper wire short between L1 and Test; this will put the refrigerator into a defrost for approximately 23 minutes. 7. The watt meter should read between 500 to 600 watts depending on the model.

Pcling, Yes, replacing the end cap will help, but there are other things to check as well, Make sure the auger motor and yoke are mounted to the rear housing properly and tightly. Make sure the metal housing is perpendicular to the back wall of the ice bin, and the ice bin is properly mounted into the guide rails. Make sure the freezer temperature is not below 0 dgrs, and that the cubes aren't sticking together in the bin causing excess force on the auger shaft.

Hello Byrd, The auger coupler WP10114901 or the auger motor shaft are probably stripped. Since this has been an issue in the past, a kit 12002089 is now available that includes the motor, the yoke and the associated parts to be replaced.

JLofty, To the best of our knowledge, the manufacturer has not redesigned the helix drive cap. There are several other possible issues that you will need to check. Is the auger motor WP67003226,drive yoke WP10114901 and motor cover assembly 12786502 perpendicular and straight, or at a slight angle. Is there excessive back and forth movement in the auger 10114401 dispenser bar 10113801 or wheel WP67002052 Any excess movement in the auger shaft, would allow the drive helix to dislocate from the bin. This could also be due to excessive ice cubes, extremely cold and frozen cubes, and worn out spacers and blades in the mandiplte. You may want to consider dismantling the assembly and repairing the worn parts, or may want to consider this WP12740302 agitator assembly

Darrell, It's not quite that easy. It could be an issue in the auger motor itself 12002089 or the dispenser control board WP67003622. You may want to access the auger motor and check for 120 VAC from white to orange and white to blue on the motor when the cubed ice and crushed ice selection is made, and the dispenser paddle pressed, no voltage would indicate a bad dispenser control board or loose wire. voltage on the wires would indicate a faulty auger motor.
