Scott A. August 11, 2014 for Model Number Kenmore Elite Dishwasher Our dishwasher started making a vibratory loud noise last week, the top rack quit coming clean, so I replaced the water inlet valve and took out the chopper assembly. It was gooped up quite a bit. It seemed to clean better but then quit again and is still loud. I took it apart and the chopper was gummed up again with food. I cleaned it again. Turning the chopper blade will not turn the motor unit but I an manually turn the motor unit and the blade turns. Does the chopper unit need replaced or is the motor going bad? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Scott, The chopper has to be bad since the food is stopping up the screen. This is a common failure but the fix will correct the issue until something hard gets into the chopper area again. I do recommend to use a wet-vac to suck out the water and whatever debris is down in this chamber. The reason I have made this a habit is because many times there will be a small, clear piece of broken glass in the chamber and since you cannot see it, it will break the new part and make you have to execute the repair all over again. Margo July 26, 2014 for Model Number GU2400XTPT6 Our dishwasher is not draining, all the connections are free from clogs. We took apart the unit and it appears the chopper assembly is broken because the blade is not attached to the screen at all, it just moves around the screen. Could this be the reason the unit is not draining or is there another issue with the unit we should evaluate?
1 Answer Hello Margo, If the chopper W10083957V is broken the food particles pile up and stop up the screen. This will be the source of your drain issue. Read More...
Ron D. July 25, 2014 for Model Number kenmore 665 Hi There...The gear at the end of the motor is worn and wont drive the chopper, causing the screen to plug up and not pump much water. My question is...what will happen if I just remove the chopper and screen assembly all together so I at least get good water pressure again? Will the dishes be dirtier? will the impeller clog up? or will it risk plugging the drain line? I am going to try it and see what happens as we think that we will probabally buy a new dishwasher instead of fixing this piece of junk, but i was just curious what will be the likely senario to watch for...thanks in advance.
1 Answer Ron, All of the scenarios you mentioned will probably happen. You may be able to get by for a while without the chopper blade and screen, if you are meticulous about scraping all the debris and heavy build up off all the articles placed in the dishwasher. But anticipate problems. Read More...
Doug June 21, 2014 for Model Number Kitchenaid KUDS03CTSS dishwasher The dishwasher had become very loud. I replaced the chopper assembly. Still really loud. Time to replace the pump?
1 Answer Hello Doug, If you have verified there is no debris present in the pump assembly, the pump assembly WPW10780877 should be replaced. Read More...
Kim June 13, 2014 for Model Number Kenmore Dishwasher - chopper assembly I have just watched the video on replacing the dishwasher chopper assembly, #8268363. I moved into a house with this dishwasher not working well. Since we had home warranty I called to get it serviced. The service tech took apart the dishwasher and the screen on the chopper assembly was horribly gunked up. He took apart the assembly itself, I was in an out of the kitchen but he just handed me the screen and I attempted to get it clean, I did see the blade but the two were not attached together. I did not see the part reassembled, I would imagine he did it, but since it is a spring loaded part, I am questioning if that is possible. Is this a part that can come apart? I don't mind taking apart my dishwasher again to look at it, but I don't think I have the torque screwdriver I need to remove the housing, but I can get one. The video is excellent, and I am fairly handy if I know what the problem is. Thanks
1 Answer Hello Kim, This part W10083957V is sold as an assembly because you should not be able to take it apart. Read More...
Steven April 27, 2014 for Model Number du1055xtsb I have a whirlpool dishwasher du1055xtsb. I have to take it apart and clean the chopper assembly part every week. After I clean it it works like a dream for another week then I have to repeat the process. I have ordered new chopper assembly part and replaced it and still does the same thing. I make sure the dishes are scrapped but the chopper assembly still gets caked with food particles. I also noticed when the dishes don't come out clean the soap is hard in the dispenser. What could be wrong? Thanks for your time, Steven
1 Answer Hello Steven, The detergent is in the dispenser because there is no water pressure to wash it out. You will have to make sure the chopper W10083957V is not damaged, installed correctly, and the end of the motor shaft is not damaged so it can properly drive the chopper. The chopper has to spin to clear the screen. When the screen stops up it restricts the water pressure that the pump can push through the screen and the entire wash is affected. Read More...
E. March 22, 2014 for Model Number kitchenaid kuds30ixss0 I have installed a new chopper assembly, but it does not appear to spin with the shaft. It appears that the chopper assembly does not extend far enough to fully mesh with the shaft. I am installing the chopper screen in the outer groove. Any tips on getting a new chopper assembly to fully engage with the shaft? Thanks
1 Answer Hello E., If the center of the circulation impeller 8193951A is worn down it will have to be replaced for the chopper to properly mesh with it. If it is not worn down, the chopper W10083957V could be defective of not completely seated. Read More...
James March 12, 2014 for Model Number kuds30fxsso The screen attached to the chopper must be removed each week and cleaned, otherwise dishes wont come clean, especially those on upper rack. I presume the chopper is not scraping or scouring the screen properly. Is this the purpose of the chopper, and will a replacement prevent the screen from clogging?
1 Answer Hello James, The chopper W10083957V issue you are having is caused by the chopper not spinning with the motor. This will be corrected by replacing the chopper assembly since the shaft it is mounted on should mesh with the end of the motor and clears the screen when the unit is running. Read More...
Dee February 13, 2014 for Model Number Kitchen Aid KUDROITJWHI Can you replace the impeller that drives the chopper blade assembly? Our dishwasher is not cleaning top rack and blade keeps filling with debris. My husband has taken apart numerous times and feels it is the impeller - not the chopper blade assembly. Do you carry a part to fix this?
1 Answer Dee, I've found model KUDR01TJWH1. The only way to obtain the impeller is to replace the motor, part number WPW10757217. Thanks! Read More...
Tyrone January 11, 2014 for Model Number kudio1flss2 There is no lights on panel but power to the unit. Could the motor be burnt out? The unit didn't finish last cycle. What else could be the problem?
1 Answer Tyrone, You will want to check the control board to see if there is power getting to the control board. If there is no power getting to the control board then the issue would be caused by either loss of power from the main source or the fuse may be blown before you get to the control board. If there is power to the control board then the control board would most likely be the issue. The part number for the control board would be WP8564543 and the fuse is 8193762. Read More...
