Steve October 19, 2011 for Model Number ED5GVEXVD04 I had simular issues: Both freezer and fridge side not cooling. Compressor running non-stop. Frost built up on back of freezer. Light bulb comes on, but water filter light was not on, though it did come back on when I unpluged, and plugged the unit back in. My question is how can you tell which part is faulty between this part, the thermometer, the bi-metal defrost, or defrost thermometer? Thanks!
1 Answer Hello Steve. You can test the heater WP2323198 and the thermostat WPW10225581. They should read closed for continuity when cold. If they are good, you will need to replace the defrost timer WPW10366605. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Tim J August 19, 2011 for Model Number ED5FHEXNS00 MY REFRIG AND FREEZER KEEP TURNING OFF ONCE A WEEK AND WE DONT REALIZE UNTIL THE FREEZER IS COMPLETLY THAWED OUT. IT EVENTUALLY COMES BACK ON AND WILL WORK FOR A WHILE.. WE HAVE JUST RECENTLY FOUND OUT THAT IF YOU HIT THE AREA WHERE PART NUMBER AP4981918 IS IT WILL COME BACK ON. PLEASE HELP!!!
1 Answer Tim, your description would indicate a loose connection or a problem with the ADC Board WPW10366605 located in the fridge control panel assembly. When you "hit" the panel in that area, you cause the wire or contact to close and it starts and runs the compressor . Thanks and Good Luck. Read More...
Mike August 13, 2011 for Model Number Maytag Side-by-Side msd2542veu01 Only the bottom of the freezer gets cold. Don't think the fan is turning on. Could this be the defrost timer control?
1 Answer Hi Mike. The evaporator fan motor needs replaced. This part # is WP2315549. Thank you. Read More...
Jay T. July 31, 2011 for Model Number ED5HVAXVL What functions does the Elec. Control board operate on the fridge? Specifically the compressor, timer, thermostat?
1 Answer Hello Jay. The electronic control board WPW10366605 is the defrost timer for the refrigerator. The temperature controller controls the temperature and when the compressor comes on. Hope this helps. Read More...
John T. July 06, 2011 for Model Number ed5fvgxws00 The freezer only cools to 40 degrees. Both fans are working, the compressor is hot and the vent ways are clear. Any ideas ?
1 Answer John, did you check and make sure the freezer compartment light is going out ? Is there frost or ice on the back wall of the freezer ? and how about the door seals, and shelves,is the seal is tight all the way around, and nothing holding the door open slightly. What about the refrigerator temperature, is it also warm ? Thanks Read More...
Liketrytofix June 30, 2011 for Model Number ED5LDEXWB00 I have a 1.5 year old whirlpool side by side refrig-freezer model ED5LDEXWB00 and our refrigerator side was getting warmer and warmer no matter if I turn to coldest setting. The freezer side was still cold/frozen. Empty it. Took panel off inside freezer to expose coils - it looked like needed to be defrosted and was all frost/frozen up. Fan works & air comes out of top vent frig side,I did notice more air came out when opened freezer door. This mean anything? Bottom vent seemed open-splashed alittle water in and came right out freezer side. Recall that defrost heater tube was NOT frozen before started defrosting. ( remember seeing black at bottom (tube-defrost heater tube assuming) and thinking must be working or would be frozen. Was frozen right above it and more frozen at bottom of coil section than top. Would say the unit was continuing running unless turn refrig side dial to off. Then it would stop( this matter?)Thinking defrost heater, defrost thermostat or PCA( am I correct this model doesn't have a defrost timer?)Is this PCA in compartment at top front of refrig by dials? What is your thought on my problem? - service call to me is a distance and expensive vs part replacement by self.
1 Answer Hello Liketrytofix. You will need to test the defrost heater WP2323198 and the defrost thermostat WPW10225581. They should read closed for continuity when cold. If they are good, you will need to replace the PCA WPW10366605. Everything else you described sounds like it is normal. The air does slow down when the door is closed. This is due to an air tight seal. The lower vent seemed to be clear based on the information you provided. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps.http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Anthony June 22, 2011 for Model Number ED5FHAXSL02 Can this be tested with a multimeter? The indicator light (AP3044046) keeps flashing and I already replaced the THERMOSTAT (AP3882436) and Defrost Thermostats/Bi-metal (AP4299920) but the evaporator keeps freezing over. Thanks!
1 Answer Hello Anthony. You will need to test the defrost heater WP2323198 and make sure it is closed for continuity. If so, and you have replaced the bi-metal, you will need to replace the electronic control WPW10366605. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps.http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Joe June 13, 2011 for Model Number KSRS25IKSS03 Neither refrigerator or freezer is properly regulating temperature. Have to turn temp control to max in order to get freezer to freeze, but still having intermittent problem where it freezer to get up to @ +40F and refrigerator will and reach +45-50F. At this point, ice in bin begins to melt and water puddles on floor. Coils have been kept clean. If I turn freezer control to "OFF" for a few minutes, then back on to max, it will work again for a few days. Which part or parts should I replace?
1 Answer Hello Joe. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the freezer thermostat WP2182770 is bad and will need to be replaced. Hope this helps. Read More...
