Steve for Model Number ED5GVEXVD04 I had simular issues: Both freezer and fridge side not cooling. Compressor running non-stop. Frost built up on back of freezer. Light bulb comes on, but water filter light was not on, though it did come back on when I unpluged, and plugged the unit back in. My question is how can you tell which part is faulty between this part, the thermometer, the bi-metal defrost, or defrost thermometer? Thanks!
Answer Hello Steve. You can test the heater WP2323198 and the thermostat WPW10225581. They should read closed for continuity when cold. If they are good, you will need to replace the defrost timer WPW10366605. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter.
