Aw December 06, 2012 for Model Number ED5VHEXVB04 Our refrigerator stopped cooling, we heard clicking. The compressor and the relay were replaced. It worked for one day no more clicking and stopped cooling again. Had another person in and they say that it's the thermostat-#2198202 and or the control electric computer board #w10366605. Would these parts finally fix the problem?
1 Answer Hello AW, Based on the information, you want to check to see if your evaporator fan is running. If the fan is running but compressor is not Then you want to make sure that you are getting power to the compressor from the control board. The compressor circuit runs through the board. Check for 120 vac from White P4 terminal to Red on P2 pin 4. If you do not have voltage replace the board WPW10366605. Read More...
Jim S November 06, 2012 for Model Number KTRF 18MTWH00 Hi First started with the light bulb quite working. I replaced it and still didn't work. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Jim
1 Answer Hello Jim. Check and see if the bulb is loose. If not, then you need to look for a loose connection in the unit. Read More...

Demetrios E September 10, 2012 for Model Number KSRG22FKSS04 i HAVE A Kitchenaid Superba and just recently my refrigerator/freezer ends up stop working every 5 hours. it ends up blowing a fuse and I am having to reset the fuse in the fuse box. Can you tell me what would cause this in the refrigerator?
1 Answer Demetrios, Under the circumstances, you may want to start by checking the defrost system( heater, thermostat, and control board). The heater and thermostat are located in the freezer compartment, behind the back wall WP2323197 WPW10225581 and the control board is in the control assembly in the fresh food compartment WPW10366605, This is also where you probably should start. You probably have a short in the board circuitry, causing a short to ground and tripping the circuit breaker. Read More...
Jim T. September 08, 2012 for Model Number ED5PHEXRL00 Do the door heaters stay on constantly? The frame of the door is hot and the refrigerator side is not cold.
1 Answer Hello Jim, The heat you are feeling isn't from a "heater" per say, but the heat from the sealed system backing up since it isn't dissipating the heat back into the room properly. You either need to clean the condenser coils with a vacuum cleaner, or the condenser fan motor W10124096 isn't running. Any time the freezer fan and the compressor is running, it should be running also. If it is running, you should try to stop the fan blade from turning. If you have to bump it to get it running and/or it is running slowly, it is bad and requires replacement. Read More...
Chuck August 24, 2012 for Model Number ksrb25fkss03 The fresh food side is running very cold even at the lowest setting. The freezer is running properly. What could be causing this?
1 Answer Hello Chuck, Sounds like you need to replace the diffuser WP2209751. This is basically the little trap door that allows the cold from the freezer side to be shared to the fresh food side. If the spring has come off or the device has frost holding the little door in there open, it will turn the entire unit into a freezer. Read More...
Dave B. April 17, 2012 for Model Number ED2GVEXVD01 My Whirlpool refrigerator ED2GVEXVD01 has the filter indicatror coonstantly flashing, and the compressor is constantly running. The freezer is cold but the fridge compartment is not. I suspect the control board to be the problem. It is listed in the Whirlpool parts drawing as "Control Board Assembly, Defrost" and P/N W10366605. Your website crosses to P/N AP4981837. Are they plug to plug compatable? Am I on the right track? Big difference in price.
1 Answer Hello Dave, This unit has a defrost timer, not a control board. This unit either has a bad diffuser/damper or the evaporator fan motor has failed. If you hear the freezer fan when you open the door, the evaporator fan motor is good. I would check for a frost build-up on the back freezer wall. If there is no frost, you probably have a sealed system issue. If there is frost on the back wall of the freezer compartment, the unit is experiencing a defrost problem. Let us know what you find and we will go further in that direction. Read More...
Mike V. April 11, 2012 for Model Number KitchenAid KSRK25ILSS02 The evaporator fan stays on. I removed the cover from the inside rear of the freezer and noticed ice on the evaporator. I manually defrosted the freezer. The evaporator fan still stays on. The resistance on the fan motor is 40 Ohms. What could be the problem? Thanks!
1 Answer Hello Mike, Sounds like a bad diffuser WP2209751, a bad fresh food thermostat WP2161460, Or a bad freezer thermostat WP2182770. Either the temperature in the fresh food side isn't coming down, (lack of air circulation...fan running so this would have to be the damper) or the temperature is coming down but the thermostat isn't responding as designed.
