Faith April 05, 2012 for Model Number whirlpool I just replaced the feed dogs on my agitator. I still have the same problem. If I hold the agitator down, it agitates fine. But while watching it agitate with a load of clothes, it's just spinning around in a circle. Could I have installed it improperly, or is this a problem with some other parts?

Melinda November 23, 2011 for Model Number lsc9000pw0 On high agitation the machine makes a rhythmic grinding noise. It doesn't make the noise on low agitate. I replaced the entire agitator assembly & it still makes the noise. It sounds like when the dog ears were bad a few years ago. With a mechanic stethoscope I can hear the noise at the metal surrounding the brake & at the clutch but I don't hear anything unusual from the gear case. What would cause this if not from agitator assembly?
1 Answer Hello Melinda. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the clutch assembly 285785 is bad and will need to be replaced. Also, check and make sure the drive block WP389140 is not bad in the unit. Hope this helps. Read More...
Myra October 26, 2011 for Model Number gsx9885jq0 I put the whole agitator on and tightened down the screw but the tabs still didn't lock and now I can't get the screw out. The top and bottom agitator are moving but the same way, I can't turn the clothes mover with my hand.
1 Answer Hello Myra. It sounds like the agitator bolt is cross threaded. If installed properly, it will compress the two pieces of the agitator 285565 and lock the tabs into place. You will need to try to hold the agitator and remove the bolt, and see if you can get it to thread into the tramsmission correctly. Hope this helps. Read More...
Myra October 26, 2011 for Model Number gsx9885jq0 I have put the dog aggitator part together and put it inside the top clothes mover but can't get it pushed down hard enough to lock over the tabs so it is all one piece. If I put it in an tighten the screw will that make it lock down?
1 Answer Hello Myra. Yes, the bolt will lock it down. Make sure the dog gears have not fallen out and are preventing it from locking, and the tabs in the bottom of the agitator are ligned up. Hope this helps. http://www.youtube.com/user/AppliancePartsPros#p/u/1/kVnzNqMJAio Read More...
