Chad, When you open the freezer door, if the LED is flashes twice then pauses, press in on the emitter paddle(left side of compartment). If the LED still flashes twice then a pause you'll need to replace the emitter board kit W11629974. The I/R emitter sensor system controls the ice maker, if the emitter and receiver "thinks" the ice bin is full, the ice maker stops making ice.

ICE MAKER NOT WORKING ice container is empty. I can hear a small noise (maybe gear type noise) coming from left side near ice maker like something moving or trying to move. I have not yet tested the water supply. Also Water dispenser is not working as well but that's a separate problem - when lever is depressed, nothing happens. A cup was forced too hard on the lever and it immediately stopped working Perhaps a linkage or part broke? Water has not be run through dispenser for many months - could this effect the water supply to the ice maker over time?

Hello Jerry. Check and see if the gear is broken. If not, You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Sherry for Model Number Part Number: AP3182733 MFG Part Number: 2198597 Made by: Whirlpool

I just rep;aced my ice maker, and it made enough ice to fill holder about half full, then stopped. I checked the light sensors as you ask, and it blinks twice without holding panel shut, then sometimes is sticky about working properly as you describe. I do not know if it might have buildup of moisture somewhere due to recent cleaning or not. I just know that sometimes it stays red when held and sometimes not. I am wondering if there is an issue with something not connected tight? Did I maybe not connect ice maker properly? It just dumped a new batch of ice after I played around with it. Any suggestions?

Sherry, If the optics on the unit are intermittent then you would need to replace the optics.

Rob, You will want to check to make sure that your emitter board for the icemaker is working properly. When you open the freezer door you will want to see if the light on the right wall where the icemaker shut off is, if it is blinking. If it is the push in on the flapper on the left side without blocking the hole in the flapper. If the light continues to flash then you have a bad emitter board W11629974 and will need to be replaced. If it glows solid then it is ok.

Jeff, You will want to check to see if the light on the right side wall is flashing when you open the door. If so then push in on the flapper of the left wall and see if it glows solid. If it continues to flash then you will need a new emitter board W11629974 and if it glows solid then it is good. If this checks ok then you will want to pull the icemaker out and check the module. On the large gear in the middle look for the pins in the center to be pushed together or one of the pins missing then the module would need to be replaced. Also pull the icemaker module off and see if there is a burn mark on any of the terminals of the module. If so then the module will need to be replaced. Check the fill tube to make sure that it is not frozen. If frozen then you will need to clear the ice.

Clara, Check to see if the light on the right side flashes when you close the flapper, make sure that you do not cover the hole. If it does then you need to replace the emitter control board. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. Jax, If the wire arm control is in the up position then the unit will not make ice because it is shut off at this point. Make sure that it is staying down. If it is not staying down then you would want to put a new module on.
