For Whirlpool Electronic Control Board (Part Number: OEM18051852)

Andrew for Model Number Mdc4650aww serial# 38578774LR

All the lights are flashing on the control panel sometimes after 15 or 30 sec the dishwasher will start back up lights stop flashing and maybe run for 10 sec or a few minutes than stop and the lights flash. I thought it was a handle issue because it somewhat broke awhile back. I took the handle out and made sure the micro switches worked checked continuity and pulled the switches out of the handle and plugged the dishwasher back in and the lights just flash. It looks like the lights are flashing a code possibly. Replaced the front control panel #6-920396 and latch assy # W10130698. If i select a cycle doesn't matter and press start nothing happens. When all buttons are pressed on the control panel they light up but the dishwasher will not start a wash cycle. I went in service mode and the unit will enter it but nothing happens no parts are tested drain etc. I just ordered a control board #4379891 .

Andrew, It sounds like you are on the right track with the control board being ordered. This does sound like the issue would be in the control not sending signal to the components to turn on.

Hello Robert, If the problem is the control board you should check the polarity of the units' electrical connection. If it is hooked up reverse polarity the control will take a while to fail but it will cause a control failure. You should also make sure the ground is good and not crossed with the neutral.

sorry it took me long to respond to your answer. I checked the continuity for #26 and #14. I upload the bottom image here http://tinypic.com/r/20b1h5z/6 . i put letters on the connections. a and b are from thermostat which is AP4114820 and c , d are for AP4452252, heater. I checked a-c,a-d even a-b and getting buzz so does it mean all working? then i plugged in but as before no lights no power. i see the power comes to board, door latch, if i open the door latch voltage drops to 6-7 volts on board if i lock it comes up to 120V. that means door latch is also working. i replaced the board before with AP4114077. what else do you guys suggest, could it be the front display where the buttons and lights? , could there be something wrong with the belt cable comes from the board to front panel? how can I overwrite or test the front panel? i don't want to take it to service because i am sure it will cost same as a new dishwasher. :) So i really appreciate if you give me more points to troubleshoot. Thanks.

Hello Alpay. If the control board is new, and the unit still does not work, it sounds like the control panel 6-919090 is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit.

Hello Johnny. Check and make sure the float W10202535 is not stuck in the up position, and the micro-switch for the float is working properly. If not, this can cause the problems you are having. If they are good, you will need to replace the electronic control WPW10218832. Hope this helps.

Was reviewing some of the other questions about the control panel LED's dimming or not working, and find the same thing occuring on my dishwasher. Seems to be an inherent design flaw wit the dishwasher. The situation occured after having the dishwasher for 2 years. Seldom do the LED's go out all at once, leaving me to believe it's an electronic problem. Discussing the problem with Amana gets me nowhere. Can you verify with me that I need to replace the elctronic component panel?

Tom, You need to check the control panel keypad circuits 6-919800 , before you install a control board. The keypads are more susceptible to malfunctions due to usage and possible moisture and cleaning procedures. You should find your tech. data/wiring diagram, in a bag taped to the backside of the kickplate panel, it will give you the resistance readings and pin locations for each keypad to test with a multimeter. Thanks and Good Luck

Scott W. for Model Number PDBL390AWW

So I replaced the entire door latch with relay switch assembly because the door latch was broken and I thought that this was the cause of dish washer not responding or turning on. I got that fixed but dish washer still doesn't turn on. No lights, no clicking of relay switches or anything. I tried putting a test light on relay switches and terminals while latch had relay switchs engauged and not engauged. Nothing made test light, light up. Can you tell me what I need to check even replace now?

1 Answer

Hi Scott. In your case, start fresh at the power junction box. Remove power, check connections and make sure they are tight. Safely check for power (120 vac). From there you should get power to the control board through the door switches. Check with the door closed. Check wires if needed. If you get power to the control board and no commands will follow, then replace the control board part # WPW10218832. You can also us ethe tech. sheet supplied in behind the kick plate to aid in diagnosis. Thank You.

Bill, Try this first. Remove poer to the dishwasher, Remove the inner door liner to access the control board, disconnect the touchpad rbbon, and clean the insertion end of the ribbon with electric contact cleaner or alcohol. Use a tooth brush or something similar, and clean the connector on the control board. After everything dries out/evaporates, re insert the ribbon into the board connection, and put a thin coat of vaseline or di electric grease all way around the connectot and ribbon as a "seal or barrier". If the issue persists, replace both the control board and the control panel, Thanks and Good Luck

Don for Model Number cdb1500awb3

I have this model of dishwasher. It washes dishes 2 times then nothing on the control panel. No power at all. Then unplug it 2 days then it works again for 2 more washes. Have bought 2 control boards and they did the same thing so must be a glitch in the control panel. I have checked online and seen numerous other people have the same problem. Whirlpool just tells me it's out of warranty a few months and I have to buy a new control board which I have done as well as other people and have the same problem. So now what do I do? Throw out a dishwasher thats was 14 months old when I bought it and whirlpool doesn't want the responsibility for the problem. Any one have answers? Thank you.

Hello Don. When the unit shuts off. Are there any lights blinking on the control panel? If not, you will want to check all the wires and the connectors for broke, burnt or loose wires. Also, you may have a problem with the control panel WP6-919809 on the unit. When it shuts off, disconnect the power and remove the ribbon cable from the control board and reseat it. See if the unit comes back on. Hope this helps.
