Kenny March 30, 2013 for Model Number dv350aew/xaa My drum cracked, the rollers are fine. I guess this is a product defect. Does a new drum come with the felt edge seals on it or do I need to buy this as well? Can the old ones be reused, the unit is only 15 months old.
1 Answer Kenny, No the new drum would not come with new felt. If the felt is in good condition then you should be able to reuse. Read More...
Dennis N January 27, 2013 for Model Number MED5870TW My 2007 model Maytag electric dryer makes a thumping noise when rotating, especially when there is a very light load. Do I need rollers, or a new drum? What is the # for a drum replacement? Am I better off just buying a new one?
1 Answer Hello Dennis, Based on the information it sounds like the rollers would more than likely be the issue. You will want to pull the drum and inspect the rollers and see if there is a flat spot on them. If they check ok then you would want to check the drum seam to make sure that it is not causing the noise. Read More...
Juan April 05, 2012 for Model Number MDE9700AYW My drum cracked and is now splitting. It will need to be replaced soon. I'm wondering if there are any additional parts I'll need other than the drum? When my dryer is running through a cycle it thumps every rotation (with or without clothes). I don't know if this is because of the drum crack only, or if I'll need to replace additional parts. Thanks!
1 Answer Hello Juan, I would replace the drum rollers WPW10177428 as the broken drum W10296563 has probably damaged them. The drum rides directly on the rollers. This model has 4 drum rollers, (two in the front and two in the back). Read More...
Oskar April 04, 2012 for Model Number MDG9700AWW My felt seal has to be replaced. Now it says you have to replace the entire drum. Is it possible to purchase a maytag dryer seal such as this one? http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001DPUYJI/ref=asc_df_B001DPUYJI1963105?smid=AK4N56GDQFUTG&tag=shopzilla_mp_1606-20&linkCode=asn&creative=395105&creativeASIN=B001DPUYJI and then install it on my dryer? i do not have enough money to replace the entire drum.
1 Answer Hi Oskar. No the drum seal is crimp rolled (sealed) into the drum assy. Part # W10296563 all together. I would replace the drum rollers WPW10177428 as the broken drum W10296563 has probably damaged them. The drum rides directly on the rollers. This model has 4 drum rollers, (two in the front and two in the back). Thank You. Read More...
Mike January 09, 2012 for Model Number mdg9700awm The black stuff on my dryer drum all melted off and was flung around the inside of the dryer. I got it all off with alot of time and elbow grease. I know I need a new drum, but my question is, why did this happen?
1 Answer Hello Mike. Check and see if the vent got kinked or clogged. If so, it can cause the unit to get to hot and it will release the sounds strips and cause this problem. You will need to replace the tub assembly W10296563. Hope this helps. Read More...
Joe November 24, 2011 for Model Number MDE9700AYW If I replace drum rollers which I believe are bad, my felt rings have been torn up will it hurt anything not to replacement the entire drum. I think it is riduculous to replace whole drum just because felt rings have gone bad due to roller failure
1 Answer Hi Joe. The drum supports have the roller shafts with it. This way they are riding true and square. Drum supports part # WPW10177428 = 1/ea. You will need 4 of them. The drum part # W10296563, needs to be checked to see if it was welded smoothly where the rollers ran across it ? This may be why there was premature damage or if it was continuously overloaded. The felt is all one piece built into the drum. Thank You. Read More...
Diana September 20, 2011 for Model Number MDE9700AYM I just had the drum replaced not to long a go but the felt is coming off. Its been about three months I think.
1 Answer Hello Diana. You will need to check the rollers WPW10177428 and the edges where the drum rides. If they are bad, it will cause the felt to come off. You will need to replace the drum W10296563 again. Hope this helps. Read More...
