Stephen A January 07, 2018 for Model Number Kenmore Pro Dishwasher Model 665.1317* We have a kenmore pro dishwasher with the newer style heating element. Purchased in April 2010. The heating cycle does not appear to be working. Checked the thermostat, it's fine. Visually, the element is fine but I need to check it electrically. If it is bad, will I need the control board as well? Again, the element is visually like the new design. Do you know the electrical resistance of the old and new designs? If I knew that I could determine if a new control board is required.
1 Answer Stephen, Unfortunately we do not have the resistance reading of the element but you could test to see if it is getting 120 vac to it and if it is then the element would be the issue and if it does not then you would need the control board. Read More...
Jason May 13, 2017 for Model Number KUDP01ILWH3 My heater element is heavily corroded and no longer works. It's the rounded shaped one, not like the one in the photo of this kit. However, I removed the door panel and looked at my control board and it looks just like the updated version included in this kit. Can I buy just a new heater element without the control board? Thanks
1 Answer Jason, You will need to install the heating element kit 8194200 / 8194200. The replacement element has a higher wattage for better performance, and the replacement control board, the higher wattage requires the use of a different electronic control which pulses the element on and off during its operation and must be replaced with the heating element. Mike N March 06, 2017 for Model Number KUDS01FLSS0 I have an older model dishwasher KUDS01FLSS0 and recently replaced heating element and control unit kit 8194200. About a week after the replacement, the original internal fuse 8193762 blew and there was no power. I replaced the fuse and two weeks later it blew again. I read somewhere that wattage had been increased on the replacement heater kit to speed up the cycle, which my wife was very happy about...it was slow! But is the increased wattage causing the fuse to blow for some other reason? Any other suggestions?
1 Answer Mike, Checked and verified you have the correct heater kit for the model number you supplied. There was an increase in the wattage of the new heater, and the control board circuitry was "upgraded" to compensate for the change, it shouldn't affect the operation of the dishwasher. First check to make sure there are no loose wires, connections or terminals at the heater, motor connector or the electrical junction box on the front frame. If all is OK, replace the 8193762 / 8193762 Fuse Kit, make sure you follow the instructions, and install all of the parts in the kit. Read More...
Rl December 10, 2016 for Model Number 665.15959000 I have a broken heater element and the unit is a Kenmore Elite Stainless steel DW. Ofcourse the element is discontinued but it has a round element like whirlpool part # 8268559 / Ap3775605. Will the new redesigned part / kit # 8194200 work on this unit or can I just replace it with part # W10518394 or is that just for the plastic tubs?
Earl December 05, 2016 for Model Number 665.17483300 Dishwasher heating element has actually broken. Parts list calls for heater element part no 8268559. Have replaced the control panel and thermal fuse previously and noticed the recommended replacement kit 8194200 comes with a circuit board part no 8564543. This is the same as the one I installed. Could you please confirm the part numbers of the two items in the 8194200 kit. If I have the kit included circuit board installed, is it possible to just replace the heater element and if so what is the part no for the element included in the 8194200 kit.
Finn November 05, 2015 for Model Number KUDS01DJSP0 I have already replace the control board on my kitchenmaid dishwasher and the unit is blinking 7 times which seems to be that the heating element needs replacing. I don't need a new board so can I just order the element and not the whole kit. It is a stainless steel interior. Thanks
Gregory October 31, 2015 for Model Number DU1145XTPB9 Clean light continues flashing. Changed heating element but same results. Does the control board need to be changed also? Any suggestions?
1 Answer Gregory, Check the thermostat for the heater to make sure that it has continuity. If no continuity then the thermostat would need replaced. If the thermostat checks ok then check wiring between heater and control board, if the wiring is good then the control board will need replaced. Read More...
Gina December 14, 2014 for Model Number kUDI01IlBLI Regarding this Kitchen Aid dishwasher, I see that there is a new heating element being sold that is different from the old rounded one. I understand that it still fits, but that a new control board is required to make it work. I purchased the older style heating element some time ago and have not yet replaced it. I assume that I won't need to change the control board when I replace it? I know that seems like a stupid question, but I don't want to start changing the element and then realize I need a part I don't have. Thank you.
1 Answer Gina, if you have the original element you shouldn't need to change the control board. The only reason you would need to change the control board when replacing the element is if you have the manufactured replacement, due to manufacturer changes, or if the control board is currently defective. Hope this helps you. Thanks. Read More...
Tony P. November 14, 2014 for Model Number KUDR01TJWHO Do I need to replace the circuit board when replacing the heating element? The element is corroded with no indication of a circuit board failure.
1 Answer Hello Tony, If the board is putting out its' voltage it will not be an issue. Removing one wire from the element and testing for 120Vac to ground from both the wire removed and the terminal it was removed from indicates a good circuit. If no voltage on the element side, test from the other element terminal to ground. Voltage there indicates the element has failed if no voltage is on the other heating element terminal. Read More...
Ozzie March 12, 2014 for Model Number KUDS01DJSS1 Hi, heating element had split so I replaced the heater element and control board (kit) and DW worked fine for 3 days. Set it last night and this morning there was water in the bottom and all lights are off. Checked A/C coming into DW and was OK. Swapped control boards (old one worked, just would not dry) just to see if the lights would turn ON but nothing. I checked for the schematics inside the DW but they are missing. Is there a fuse or other component in line that would cause this? Thanks. Ozzie
1 Answer Hello Ozzie. Yes, 8193762 is the fuse for the unit. If it is bad, the unit will not light up or work. Read More...
