The Ice Maker is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool refrigerators. It is responsible for producing ice cubes to fill the ice bucket in the freezer. The ice maker utilizes water from the refrigerator's internal supply line and electricity to slowly freeze water into individual ice cubes.

Causes of a bad ice maker can include worn components that affect its ability to properly freeze water, malfunctions in the electronic control board that regulate the process, or issues with the supply line.

Symptoms of a bad ice maker include:

  • Failure to produce ice cubes
  • Incorrect sized or shaped ice
  • Excessive noise during operation
  • Water in the freezer

This OEM replacement part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

NOTE: 8 cube icemaker Includes two wire harnesses and shut off arm.

For Whirlpool Icemaker (Part Number: OEM18113580)

Justin for Model Number WRX735SDBM02

How long should the bail arm stay up after a harvest cycle? And how many cubes are expected per batch? I've been observing that it is always up when I check it, and I feel like it doesn't cycle at all until I manually put it down. I am able to put it back down without any resistance (suggesting to me it's not locked for a harvest cycle) and it does not appear to be obstructed as I move it up/down manually. I just heard a batch of ice drop, and the water refill, as I was typing this question, and had manually put the arm down just recently before starting to type (couldn't have been more than 15 minutes). Upon hearing the batch drop I checked and the arm is still up. Does this model just keep the arm in the up position until a certain point in the cycle and then lower it briefly to measure and the raise it back up?

Hello Justin, thank you for contacting APP, The bail arm should go back down on its own after a cycle and should not stay in the up position unless the ice level in the bin has reached the point where the bail arm cannot come down, then the arm should go back down on its own as ice is dispensed and production should begin again, it should not be clicking into the off position and staying there by itself. If you are able to easily put the bail arm back down and the plastic flap or extension is properly secured to the metal bail arm then the Icemaker W10882923 / W10882923 will need to be replaced. These ice makers drop 8 cubes of ice per batch and should produce approximately 8 to 12 batches of ice in a 24-hour period.

Moe, Make sure the bail arm is inserted all the way into the head of the ice maker and is not in a bind.

Roger, If the water only runs in when the ice maker is cycling the issue would be the ice maker. If however, the water continues to run or even drip in after the cycle has stopped the issue will likely be the water valve. W10882923 Ice maker assembly

Don, This issue will most likely be caused by a water valve that is not fully closing and will need to be replaced.

Sherry, the ice container and door chute would need to be inspected for any air leaks that could be causing frost to occur. If there is not an air leak, the next likely cause of failure would be the water valve WPW10312696 intermittently not closing properly.

Mike, This issue sounds like the water valve is faulty and would need to be replaced.

Robert, To slide the icemaker out you would pull the tab inward toward the center of the refrigerator. As for the harness, it is possible that there is ice around the connector causing it to be difficult to pull out but wiggling it when you pull should get it to come loose. It is a tight fit.

Danny, Start by checking the water valve to see that after it fills that it is not leaking through (like a leaking faucet). Also, check the fill tube to be sure it is in place not allowing the water to spill out into the bucket. Watch it through a cycle to see where the water is coming from.
