I've been observing that it is always up when I check it, and I feel like it doesn't cycle at all until I manually put it down. I am able to put it back down without any resistance (suggesting to me it's not locked for a harvest cycle) and it does not appear to be obstructed as I move it up/down manually. I just heard a batch of ice drop, and the water refill, as I was typing this question, and had manually put the arm down just recently before starting to type (couldn't have been more than 15 minutes). Upon hearing the batch drop I checked and the arm is still up. Does this model just keep the arm in the up position until a certain point in the cycle and then lower it briefly to measure and the raise it back up?
Answer Hello Justin, thank you for contacting APP, The bail arm should go back down on its own after a cycle and should not stay in the up position unless the ice level in the bin has reached the point where the bail arm cannot come down, then the arm should go back down on its own as ice is dispensed and production should begin again, it should not be clicking into the off position and staying there by itself. If you are able to easily put the bail arm back down and the plastic flap or extension is properly secured to the metal bail arm then the Icemaker W10882923 / W10882923 will need to be replaced.
