Bruno October 15, 2016 for Model Number KSB50B3 Have 12 yrs old hardly used KSB50B3 house blender with broken coupler .Don't know which parts to order.Any help please.tks much.
1 Answer Bruno, The model number [KSB50B3] is incorrect or incomplete. The closest model number is [KSB5-3] The coupler is pretty much the same on all Kitchen Aid Blenders WP9704230 / WP9704230. Just remember the coupler has reversed threads Per Factory To Be Installed By Turning Counter clockwise, Clock wise to remove. The part is in stock and available at this time. Thanks, Read More...
Eeebeebee July 13, 2016 It appears that Kitchen Aid has replaced part 9704230 with a new part number WP9704230. Has the part changed -- if so, for better or worse? If I get one with the old part, is it likely to be too old, so that the rubber/plastic will fail more easily? It seems that a lot of people have had trouble with a part not fitting.
1 Answer EEEBEEBEE, The replacement part WP9704230 drive coupler, has not changed, the manufacturer(Whirlpool) has "revamped" their parts numbering system. There are no "old" vs "new" parts and dependability is the same( the part does have a one year warranty and a one year return policy when purchased through AppliancePartsPros.com). We haven't heard or seen too many fit issues, and as long as you follow the instructions, and refer to the video attached to the parts screen, there aren't too many issues replacing the part. Eric June 12, 2016 for Model Number KSB5MC4 The black plastic coupler needs replacement part. The video shows that the part is right turn, however the part turns both directions. Does this mean that the shaft might be sheared as well?
1 Answer Hello Eric. No, it turns both ways. That is normal. The video shows how to remove and replace it. Read More...

Lyn December 01, 2015 for Model Number KSB5BU4 I bought the 9704230 coupling because the black rubber melted or disintegrated. When I pooped the residue off - I had a silver circle of metal with 6 holes which I am assuming held the previous coupling. How do I get this off - I don't want to damage the shaft of the blender. Thanks so much for your help.
