Hello Jason. No the pump could not do that. You have to have a clog if the pipe is backing up.

Lonnie, You will want to check the water temperature thermistor. The thermistor will be located on the inlet valve assembly and should have a resistance reading at 50 degrees of 97K to 102K ohms, at 77 degrees 49k to 51K ohms and at 104 degrees 26K to 27.2k ohms. If the resistance does not check ok then the thermistor is faulty and the water inlet assembly would need to be replaced. The part number needed is WPW10683603.

TIA for reading. Please help me. Details ~ Washer Brand - Kenmore Model number 11023032100 Type 111 Machine has run fine over the years, NO major issues ever. Background~ Upper agitator is rotating clockwise and counterclockwise. I believe the agitator dogs have gone bad. After we noticed that the agitator dogs are bad we have used the machine a few times. Dogs have NOT been replaced yet Problem ~ Machine with a heavy load of JUST towels banged for a while than I forced the switch while in the rinse cycle to spin to force a quick completion of the cycle and STOP the banging. Clothes came out wet but WITH A LOT OF BLACK GUNK PARTICLES - LESS THAN AN INCH SIZE - THESE GOT STUCK TO THE CLOTH. Want to know what shall I fix given the background. I opened the machine and didnt find any major damage to the COUPLER. DIDN'T SEE ANY OIL OOZING OUT OF THE TRANSMISSION.MOTOR IS RUNNING FINE. The pump on this machine was replaced with a genuine FSP pump brought from your site 4 years back. Please help me before I replace the CLUTCH ASSEMBLY or any other part. Thank you.

Hello Ajay. If the black spots were like oil, it has to be from the transmission on the unit. As for the agitation, you can turn the agitator by hand and see if it is the dogs or not. If they bite, they are good.

Tom, Yes the drain pump WP3363394 is the place to start. Your washer should drain then spin, not spin and drain simultaneously. The excess water and "drag" from a faulty pump, could cause the motor to overheat and trip the overload protector and the washer would stop running.

Jose, Once you get the cabinet off, the pump WP3363394 is the first place to start. dismount it from the motor, and check to see if there is an article stuck in the impeller or if the impeller is seized. If the pump is the issue, it can cause the motor to hum and "trip" the motor overload switch and shut down. If the motor still hums with the pump dismounted, then you will need to test the timer circuits and the motor windings circuit to determine which part has failed.

Janine for Model Number TAWS800JQ1

The water is not draining. The washer works until it is time to drain, and then it shuts off. I'm wondering how you know if it is the pump, or the timer that needs replacing. You advised to someone else, "If the motor is not running you will need to verify the timer is sending voltage to the motor. If so, the motor 661600 most likely has a bad winding. If not, the timer 3946448 is suspect. As a note, the wiring between the timer and motor should be checked before ordering the timer. " So the motor must be running until it is time to drain, would I assume it is the timer? How would you check the wiring between the timer and motor? Are you just making sure they are attaches?

1 Answer

Janine, You would want to inspect the wiring between the timer and the motor to make sure that there is no loose or broken wires. The motor must be running for the unit to drain. If the motor is not running then most likely the timer is the issue.

Hello Wilbur, If the motor is running and the unit will not drain you will need to pull the spin basket to see if an article of clothing has jumped the spin basket and stopped up the opening where the pump hose connects to the outer tub assembly. If the motor is not running you will need to verify the timer is sending voltage to the motor. If so, the motor WP661600 most likely has a bad winding. If not, the timer WP3946448 is suspect. As a note, the wiring between the timer and motor should be checked before ordering the timer.
