Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Refrigerator Ice Maker Assembly (Part Number: OEM12405033)

1 Answer

Charles, to increase the water level in this icemaker you turn the adjustment screw clockwise(right) to decrease the water level, you turn the adjustment screw counter clockwise( left). You should first check to make sure you have enough water flow/pressure(32 psi) at the fill valve connection. If you need to adjust the screw more than three revolutions, you need to replace the ice maker.

I mam trying to remove the ice maker from the Maytag unit listed. I have talked with four of your people and sent pictures to David of the ice maker compartment. I have not found any help getting the old maker out. THERE ARE NO SCREWS IN THE SIDE WALL. That unit has the same model numbur but the ice maker compartment on mine does not match the one you have a film of showing how to remove three screws and simple removal. My ice maker is mounted on a plastic tray that appears to slide out after depressing a tab on the rail. CAN'T MOVE IT!! I cannot find what is holding the ice maker to the back wall. I removed the three screws in the bottom of the tray and can move the maker around, up and down a half inch but can't pull it forward at all! CAN YOU HELP? I have the manual and can get picctutres on the computer

Shep, Simply removing the 3 screws from the bottom will not allow this icemaker to come out. To remove you will need to pull out the ice bin. On the lower left side of the ice compartment there is a cover that needs to be removed. You will see a hole on the cover just below where the head of the icemaker is. Using a small flat blade screwdriver, stick it into the hole at an angle with the handle up. Then pull the handle downward and it will catch the release for the cover. Slide the cover forward. Once this is done then disconnect the wire harness and then at the side of the icemaker there will be a tab, Pull the tab toward the icemaker and slide the entire assembly forward. This will allow for the icemaker to be removed.

Hello Shep. You must remove the wire cover on the left wall. Then unplug the wires and release the locking tab at the top of the icemaker and slide the whole assembly, not just the icemaker, out of the housing by pulling it toward you. Now you can replace the icemaker.

Erik for Model Number MFI2269VEM10

I have a Maytag french door refrigerator, model MFI2269VEM10. Currently, the ice maker, water dispenser, and interior lights do not work. Last month, I had the same problem and was able to remedy it by sliding out the door/tray to the ice maker and closing it, somewhat forcefully. That didn't work this time. The light just flickered with each attempt. Could it be a bad switch somewhere in the ice maker that shuts everything off? Thanks for your assistance.

Hello Erik. You need to go over all wiring connections and look for bad or loose connections on the unit.

Hello Dean. It sounds like the water valve is bad and will need to be replaced in the unit.

Hello guardrail72. You can test the heater for continuity. It should read closed. If the icemaker cycles, but the heater does not melt to release the ice, then it is bad and you will need to replace the icemaker assembly.

Marty for Model Number KSRS25FGWH02

I went out of town and turned off the ice maker and water to home. Turned all back on on return and all was fine. Then ice maker started only producing 4 cubes per cycle. I flushed incoming water line and some debris came out, but ice maker still does the same. I also removed fill valves but the screen appeared clear. So is the fill valve partially plugged, or is the control module or ice maker bad? I have tried adjusting the ice size screw, but it hasn't made a difference. Thanks

Hello Marty, The water valve W10408179 will have to be replaced if proper water pressure is being supplied to the unit from the home water supply. You should also try to get the icemaker fill adjustment back as close to the way it was originally to prevent issues with the water fill. As a note, you cannot turn the adjustment screw more than one turn either direction or damage will be incurred on the contracts inside the motor module.

Tqammy, The ice freezing at the fill cup would be caused possibly by either the water filter needing to be changed and causing the water pressure to be too low and causing it to freeze up or by low water pressure to the unit. The black stuff coming off in the ice would be caused by particles of the icemaker model deteriorating. You will want to check to make sure that the model is not damaged and if it is you would want to replace the icemaker.

Hello Louie. Make sure the temp in the unit is 0 to 5°. If so, you will need to replace the water valve in the unit.
