For Whirlpool Refrigerator Ice Maker Assembly (Part Number: OEM12405033)

Dave Tier for Model Number ED25PEXHT02

I have a Whirlpool Side by Side refrigerator that developed a problem with the icemaker a little over a year ago. At that time I bought a replacement unit through you and it went great. It’s been working ever since until it recently developed a problem with the water fill to the unit. Water was just trickling when called for. Because it was rather new, I assumed that the problem was with the fill valves so after reading the user comments, I just purchased a new water valve assembly and installed it in accordance with the video. Everything went great but when it was put back in service, the dispenser worked fine but still no water flow to the icemaker. When it came time during the cycle to fill, you could hear the valve assembly bang a few times and that was it. Still no water. The spec sheet says the fill time should be approximately 7.5 seconds, but the sounds from the valves only lasted 2 seconds. The coil on the icemaker fill valve reads about 169 ohms, and the other two valves read approx. 342 ohms. What do you recommend as a next step? Assuming everything is good with the valve assembly, is there a potential problem with the control module that is not sequencing the fill valve properly? If it is something with the control module, should I replace the portion only or the whole unit? Any other ideas? Is there a way to test the circuit to verify these assumptions? Whirlpool Model ED25PEXHT02 Ser # SL0448204 Water valve assembly replacement part #2206123 Most recent order for the fill valve assembly was order #5208618 on 02/18/2015.

Dave, What you will want to look for is a frozen fill tube. With the water valve and the icemaker having been replaced then this would most likely be the cause. Pull the icemaker out and look inside the tube with a flashlight to see if there is ice in it and if there is use a screwdriver to scrap it out or hot water squirted into the fill tube.

Anthony, With the icemaker leaking at the front behind the module, the mold for the icemaker is most likely deteriorating and you would need to replace the mold. The part number for the mold is WPW10190929. You will also need allumilastic cement which will go on the thermostat and the part number for it is WP4317852.

Hello Mac. There is an adjustment screw on the side of the module to add more water. However, it sounds like the water valve is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit.

Eugene, You will want to check the temperature in the freezer to make sure that it is getting cold enough. If the icemaker tray is filling but not dumping then either the freezer temp is not getting below 15 degrees or the icemaker has a faulty thermostat on it.

I recently received the ice maker I ordered under order number 5133753. First and foremost, I want to say thank you for the super fast shipping, I was very happy to receive it as quickly as I did. I installed the replacement ice maker yesterday evening and I've been having a problem with it since it has been installed. The ice maker will make the ice and eject the cubes like it should, but the overflow metal bar will not return to the fully down position. This makes the ice maker think the ice bin is full and it stops making ice. The overflow bar does go down part of the way, but there is something that it seems to be catching on just enough to stop it from returning to the fully down position. I have checked and there is nothing in the way of the bar going down and a slight push on it does return it to the down position where the ice maker will resume its operation but this needs to be done after every batch of ice is dropped. I wanted to see what could be causing this and if there are any tweaks I can do to try and stop this from happening. If not, I would like to see about returning the ice maker for a replacement part. I appreciate any help you can provide and look forward to getting this resolved.

Daniel, You will want to check to make sure that the arm is pushed in all the way. It is possible that the arm may have bent a little too much and is hanging up at the back part of the icemaker where it hooks to the fill cup area. If this checks on then the module would be faulty and causing this issue.

Daryl, First check and make sure the refrigerator is level front to back and side to side, then check the ice maker for level. If the problem persists, remove the white plastic front cover of the ice maker on the right side of the control module, you'll see a white plastic screw. using a small flat blade screw driver, turn the screw clockwise to decrease the fill time and counterclockwise to increase the fill time. Adjust it 1/2 a revolution at a time, until the water level is correct, and no more than two complete revolutions.
