Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Replacement Icemaker (Part Number: OEM12405033)

Bjv for Model Number Maytag refrigerator, Model RTF1900c

Maytag icemaker quit after replacement (pro) of R.O. water system. Heard it trying, but no ice. Now it doesn't try. Water supply seems to be on, no ice dam in the chute, wire arm goes up/down as usual. No water coming in. No kinked tubing I can find. Can't verify whether the maker is not letting water in or whether there's just no water. RO ball shut off seems to be in the right position. It WAS trying, but no more. Is there a reset button like on a disposal? How can I trouble shoot my ice maker before considering replacement.

BJV, You will want to check your water fill tube to the icemaker to make sure that it is not clogged. With replacement of filter on RO system water may have seeped into the water line or there may have been low water pressure which could have caused fill tube to freeze. If frozen clear and let cycle to see if it brings in water.

Hank, You will want to look for the fill cup on the icemaker and make sure that it is not frozen. If frozen then you would want to replace the water valve. If not frozen and the icemake is getting water in it, then you will want to inspect the coating on the icemaker to make sure that it is not deteriorating. If it is then you would want to replace the icemaker mold.

Hello Don. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Hello Howard. Usually this is due to warm air entering the freezer either by a bad damper door on the dispenser or the door not being closed all the way. You will need to check the door in the dispenser and make sure it is closing properly and sealing good in the unit.

Hello Mike, To test the infrared sensor you will open door. The light should be flashing. When you close the flapper on the left side without blocking the opening then it should stop flashing. If it continues to flash then the board W11629974 is bad and needs to be replaced. If it does stop then you will want to check the icemaker module W10190935. When you pull icemaker out you will pull the white cover off and look at the large gear. Check the pins in the middle of the gear for being broken. If they are broken then replace module.

Hello Jim. The adjustment screw on the side of the icemaker is used to adjust the cube size of the ice being made. If you turn it to much, it will damage the icemaker. Half a round is enough to adjust the size.
