Dan M July 21, 2012 for Model Number 12001957 I have installed the replacement ice maker and it is producing ice. The problem is that when it kicks out ice the brake arm doesn't pop completely down. After it fills with water and rotates a little I can manually knock the arm down and it operates fine until it dispenses ice again.
1 Answer Dan, Re check and make sure you have the "bail" arm installed properly at both ends, and there are no obstructions or burrs on the fill cup or control head and ice stripper/separator. If all's OK, contact the APP Customer Service Team and arrange for a replacement part. the control module would have a defect, and will need to be replaced. Thanks Read More...
Joe July 20, 2012 I just bought a new ice maker from you can you tell me how the water line is connected to the unit.
1 Answer Hello Joe, I'm assuming that the unit you bought the ice maker for has no ice maker in it now. If this is the case, you should have bought an ice maker kit W11700559 instead of a replacement ice maker. The ice maker kit includes the parts necessary to install an ice maker in a unit that previously had no ice maker. The water supply line attaches to the water valve at the rear of the unit and the wiring should be present already and only needs connected, (one two wire jack). The water line goes up the rear of the unit and connects to the fill tube which goes through the rear freezer all to the fill cup on the ice maker assembly. The ice maker screws to the wall and the wires from the ice maker plug into a connector that is behind a plastic cover that says something to the effect of "Ice Maker Ready". The ice maker kit even comes with an ice bucket for the ice to drop into as the ice maker harvests it. Read More...
Jack July 20, 2012 for Model Number MZD2766GEB ANOTHER FOLLOW UP. If I need to "test for power to the water valve when the icemaker cycles" how will I know when it's ready to cycle? If I sit there waiting for it to cycle I might be there a long time & what if I miss it when it cycles? Is there a way to make it cycle? Plz help. Thanks PREVIOUS QUESTION My model MZD2766GEB Maytag refrigerator isn't making ice. The unit is turning to flip the ice out, it just isn't putting water into the ice tray. It's not leaking water anywhere and the water dispenser in the door is working fine. How do I check to see if the icemaker needs replaced or if it's the water valve etc? Thanks, Jack
1 Answer Hello Jack. You remove the cover and use a jumper wire. Insert it into the holes on the module T and H then wait until the will turns about 1/4 round. Pull out the wire and test for power. Read More...
Jack July 20, 2012 for Model Number MZD2766GEB This is a follow up to an earlier question. My ice maker isn't getting water to make ice. Is it true that since the water dispenser in the door is getting water, the water valve is good and I don't need to check it? EARLIER QUESTION My model MZD2766GEB Maytag refrigerator isn't making ice. The unit is turning to flip the ice out, it just isn't putting water into the ice tray. 1 Answer Hello Jack. No, there are 2 solenoids on the water valve and one can work and the other one be bad. Read More...

1 Answer Hello Jack. You will test for power to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If there is power there, and no water, replace the water valve on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...

Tim July 17, 2012 The last slot in the back of the ice cube maker frequently jams with a small chunk of ice that does not eject with the rest of them. I have to knock that piece out by hand before the ice cube maker starts working again. Why doesn't that last cube in the mold eject? Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Tim, This sounds like an insufficient water fill to me. If the cubes seem small, this is the cause. You either have low water pressure to the unit, or the water valve is failing. These are the most probable causes. The issue can be in the motor module, (ice maker control), as there are mechanical points that have to make electrical contact which could be part of the issue. Alex July 15, 2012 for Model Number 4317943 I have replaced an icemaker in Whirlpool ref. according to your instruction. However it is not producing an ice. What would you recommend?
1 Answer Hello Alex. Check and make sure the fill tube is not frozen over and causing the issue with the unit. If the icemaker is new, and the fill tube is not frozen, it sounds like the water valve is bad and will need to be replaced. Read More...
Jerry July 14, 2012 for Model Number MFD 2560HES The icemaker makes ice but won't harvest it. The arm is down. Is this the ice maker or some other part?
1 Answer Hello Jerry, If the harvest fingers are not even contacting the ice, the problem is either that the temperature in the freezer isn't dropping below the 20°F that is required to satisfy the ice maker thermostat or the ice maker thermostat has failed. If t harvest fingers are rotated around and are against the ice, the ice mold heater has failed.Either of the last two issues I mentioned can be solved by replacing the ice maker D7824706Q. If the first is the issue, you need to clean the coils and check for a frost build-up on the back wall of the freezer. If there is a frost build-up, you have a defrost issue. Let us know if we can assist further. We need to know what you find so we can follow a logical diagnostic procedure. Read More...
